New Poll Has Christine O'Donnell Within 6%
Tea Party Express E-Mail | 10/24/2010 | Tea Party Express

Posted on 10/24/2010 12:07:52 PM PDT by rob777

I got the following e-mail from the Tea Party Express and wondered if others had heard of a poll showing Christine this close.

Stunning news to report today, fellow patriots. A brand new poll has Christine O'Donnell surging to within 6% of her Democrat challenger, Chris Coons.

This late-in-the-campaign surge replicates her surge in the polls in the GOP primary, when everyone had written her off and said she could never win.

She proved the so-called "experts" wrong before and she seems poised to do so again!

With just 10 days left until Election Day, we would love nothing more than to defeat Barack Obama's and Harry Reid's candidate, Chris Coons, and give the media heartburn by electing Christine O'Donnell to the U.S. Senate.

But now we've got to give it everything we've got because it seems the national Republican Party has abandoned her and is refusing to put money into her campaign. But we here at the Tea Party Express aren't abandoning Christine O'Donnell, and we're committed to helping her win, just as we did in the primary.

I think I’ll actually watch MSNBC that evening and enjoy that moment when they say “the witch won”.

She’s getting closer, but she really needs the turnout to close that gap.

Coons running negative ads against her — sign he is in trouble??? Coons refused to participate in their last planned debate -— why?

Go Christine! I’m wondering what’s going on with the GOP candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland? If the Maryland Governor’s race is close, then why is the Maryland U.S. Senate race not, also, close? Is there not enough money and attention put in for the GOP U.S. Senate candidate in Maryland?

While my hope is for Christine O’Donnell to win, I have a strong desire to see Rove lose.

I’d see that as a twofer...

It will be released soon. Key things Christine has going for her.

-Republicans still reluctant to vote for her will likely come home on election day. They almost always do. Some may stay at home but will they show up and vote for an Obama Democrat? Probably not.

—The one thing that should be noted is Obama is still not fairing well in Delaware with his approval/disapproval nearly tied or underwater depending on the poll. People in Delaware still support repealing Obamacare and support immigration enforcement ala the Arizona law and oppose Cap and Trade.

—Will Democrat vote be as high as in 2006 or 2008? No. Most of the polls showing Christine down by double digits have captured samples that have a larger percentage of Democrats or a smaller percentage of Republicans. I suspect many Democrats are actually shifting to the independent category this election year.

—I think Christine has some appeal across party lines. Rasmussen internals in the latest poll show her getting 14% of Democrat vote and tied with independents. Her GOP vote is 73% on election day I expect that to exceed 80%. She has improved in all categories in the latest polling over her previous poll plus she still has plenty of conservative vote to harvest which is at 75% up from 69% in the previous poll. She will get more than 90% of self identified conservatives in the end.

I think election night is going to be a nail biter with Christine having an early lead.

The problem is you are dealing with a small state with lots and lots of public beach that's within the local news zones of Philadelphia, Philadelphia and WarshDC.

Consequently it has a LARGE migratory population of semi-residents from those areas.

In season polling picks up on that crowd. Now we hear that Christine jumped several points so that means the out of towners aren't answering the phones anymore!

None of that is a surprise.

At the same time it's still difficult to do a good poll in Delaware, so no one bothers ~ not even the candidates.

Somebody known as "Chris" is going to win Fur Shur!

(NOTE: I don't think theories of name recognition are relevant in this one)

Frankly, because all the political 'experts' on the left and the right -including some here on FR - have dissed Christine O'Donnell from Day One because she doesn't have the 'right' resume and/or 'gravitas' and has made a few rookie gaffs, I would love to see this conservative, Christian woman win her race for the U.S. senate. I think O'Donnell would be an asset to the nation and her party. The party that has distanced itself from her because she isn't a member of the 'old boys club', like Mike Castle, RINO extraordinaire, who lost the nomination when the people rejected him for O'Donnell.

America desperately needs stand-up conservatives in congress who won't wilt from the inevitable leftwing media attacks they'll be receiving 24/7 or allow their conservative principles to be co-oped and subsumed by the Washington 'elite'. Christine O'Donnell can and should win. Karl Rove et al. should apologize for their snobbery and short-sightedness when she does - but don't hold your breath.

Most of the negative campaigning has involved accusations that she has non mainstream views on masturbation, witch-craft, etc.

At the same time your typical voter knows that neither subject is all that frequently debated in the US Senate, nor is there very much legislation about that sort of thing either.

Taxes ~ they know taxes ~ and bankruptcy ~ and little smart mouthed jerks who do county executive jobs.

Yup, when it comes to issues the voters will vote on the issues, and where the candidate doesn't match those issues, he's out!

BTW, if the election really were about masturbation I suspect Chris Coons would win ~ hands down eh!

One could argue that only really strong candidates like Christine are worth talking about in places like Delaware.
Only Hawaii has fewer conservatives than Delaware. Rhode Island has the same amount.

The GOP establishment was loving the idea of giving Delaware an unacceptable RINO, and they were twarted.

But there are a lot of races this year in many states that are about as liberal in Delaware. No one is talking about those races.

vermont - len britton -30
new york - jay townsend -28
new york - Joe dioguardi -18
maryland - eric wargotz -17
oregon - Jim Huffman -16
hawaii - cam cavasso -13

Christine’s views on masturbation are likely more mainstream, likeable and would win more votes if fully explained. But it does not appear that this election will be about whether we’d rather watch Christine talk about masturbation or Chris Coons talk about masturbation.
