I'd be characterized as a Social Conservative on most issues. But when it comes to government funding (and control) of what is rightfully the realm of the free market, I have a definite Libertarian streak.
There's no question in my mind that not a cent of our money should fund ANY form of media. The whole alphabet soup of CPB, PBS and NPR should be defunded. And I'd say the same thing if pubcasters were completely Conservative in their content.
The free market does a fine job in this area with a plethora of choices supported by the proven, working model of advertiser support. Public broadcasting only impedes free enterprise and the marketplace of ideas.
Actually, you are an objective constitutionalist, not a libertarian.
There is no room in the Constitution for media or education....nor many other present government activities.
