Sen. Charles Schumer blasted Board of Elections officials Monday for blowing a deadline for sending ballots to troops overseas - putting their chance to vote at risk.
"Our troops sacrifice their lives to protect our freedoms. They should never, ever be denied the right to vote," Schumer said.
There are approximately 50,000 New York City residents serving overseas - and 320,000 statewide.
Elections officials were originally supposed to ship the ballots to troops by Sept. 17. Because New York primaries were held Sept. 14, the federal government granted local officials an extension until Oct. 1.

I want them packed up and placed in small boxes in gitmo, beneath the privies.
The right thing to do would be to send the ballots out and to hold election open for the military votes to return. But I don’t see either the justice dept. or any dem associated with the NY state board of elections doing any such thing.
The men and women in uniform should be allowed to vote and these commies should just have to take it. These commies make me sick.
Were you sleeping!!! you sack of dung!
Chuckie Schumer
Gee wiz how inconvenient, what is one to do oh, I know, well make up the difference in 2012, everyone will feel so much better by then.
This will stop when a Republican Congress holds hearings, affixes blame, and SENDS PEOPLE TO JAIL for it. Otherwise, what’s the downside? Democrats will keep doing it year after year after year. The Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act is a federal law, passed by both Houses and signed by Obama. If it doesn’t have any teeth, then it was obviously passed for PR purposes, and is a complete joke.
Gaffe??
This was no accident
First of all, Schumer is lying through his teeth. Secondly, no race is NY will be declared final until EVERY military absentee ballot is received and counted. Thirdly, everyone responsible for this screwup is fired.
The military can fly them over there in time and back in time.
They do this every year with Thanksgiving turkeys; why not ballots?
Ballots should have FIRST PRIORITY, and it would only
take ONE PLANE from the US to fly them over.
No excuses.
Put whoever in charge of getting the ballots out in jail.
I bet this schm** is somewhere in it.
Evil eye Andy, Gillibrand and chucky huddled in a corner rubbing thier sweaty hands together snickering.
Looks like the following may have missed the deadline:

According to a letter sent to the Pentagon last week by state board of elections officials, New York City, Erie, Niagara, Putnam and Westchester counties all failed to get all their ballots in the mail to military personnel and Americans living abroad.
Yeah, it was just an innocent mistake.
And even though they broke the law, it would be a waste of time pursuing this in court.
Have a nice day everybody. :)
Yes - someone in NY needs to charter a plane and fly those ballots over. I would donate to that cause and I’m sure a lot of others would as well.
The counting of all votes in NY needs to be delayed until all military votes have been cast and received back in the appropriate precincts. There must be some court order that can be sought ordering this.
That’s the only way to stop this cr*p. Quite amazing the way bureaucratic ‘incompetence’ always effects the military vote only but somehow never that in the inner city for example.
Some folks need killin’ and that’s all I’m going to say about that.
What is the least you will take? I'll need it Arizona when the Global Warming fiasco hits.
Bull$h!t (cough, cough) ! (Think of scene from Animal House movie when Delt House is before a J-Board)
Smokescreen to what they already done ! I am sure Upchuck Schumer is behind the late mailing of the ballots !
