Parents: Dying Girl, 7, Taunted by Neighbors in Trenton

TRENTON, Mich. - Her family says 7-year-old Kathleen Edward is in the final stages of a degenerative brain disorder diagnosed as Huntington's Disease - the same disease which killed her mother, Laura, when she was only 24.
A neighbor who is feuding with the family admitted to posting grim depictions of Laura and Kathleen on Facebook, and also has a coffin hitched to a pick-up truck in front of the house - which the neighbor says is for a halloween decoration.
One photo depicts Laura in the arms of the grim reaper, while the other features Kathleen's face above a set of crossbones.
Police responded to the public feud Thursday, but no arrests were made.
A rally for Kathleen Edward has been planned for Saturday, Oct. 23 from 3 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Haas Park in Trenton.
The invitation reads: She has been tormented by sadistic neighbors. Please come and join us in showing Kathleen there are good people that care.

Sad but true.
The neighbor says she gets personal satisfaction out of thinking that it would “burn her ass” if this dead mother knew her dying daughter was being ridiculed.
Another neighbor, who says she’s never known anybody to have no heart or compassion like this couple, says that this woman who has done this says she’s the devil.
They say the coffin is a Halloween decoration (although I think they said they had that coffin around when the mother was dying also) and that it’s in keeping with Halloween and nobody’s going to stop them from “decorating”.
Sick.
Do some research on Huntington’s. It’s an absolutely horrific disease that causes involuntary muscle movement throughout the body. I remember meeting someone with the disease while volunteering a long while back, and while she was able to talk briefly, she couldn’t sit still and flailed about. It was pitiable and very difficult to see, but the sufferers usually at least try to live a normal life, normal being a relative term.
One of the characters in the FOX TV show House has Huntingtons. She conspicuously absent from the show this season, but in seasons past, they’ve shown her as a child with a mother who had the disease. It was difficult to watch.
Too many she’s in that sentence. A neighbor lady says the lady who is harassing this little girl claims to be the devil.
It is a mammal thing. I have more litter runts in my current home than anyone could ever imagine.

And Huntington’s is genetic so a lot of families who are afflicted with it have to watch a lot of suffering, not just in one family member but in several. It is a really sad, difficult thing.
This situation reminds me of a situation locally. An immigrant from Yugoslavia had lost his wife to cancer shortly after she gave birth to their 10th child; she had foregone cancer treatment in order to save the life of the child. The husband remarried after a while and was building a new life. Had a good job and his own body shop on the side. One Sunday 3 of his girls were driving to church in a nearby town and were in a collision that killed 2 of the girls and left the other in critical condition. The dad and his wife came to church a bit later and found the collision.
Some local Latino gang-wannabes decided that when this dad was visiting his daughter in critical condition after having buried 2 other daughters would be a great time to rob his body shop and get their street cred.
Sick. Totally sick.
It is pretty sick.
This is sick beyond belief.

Well, I would say the other neighbors of the family being tormented need to “man up” and “deal” with that cold hearted neighbor in a “neighborly” way.
What the neighbors are doing isn’t sick, it’s sadistic.
What the H*LL is wrong with people? I don’t care if you loathe the ground someone walks upn you do not do that to a dying child.She should be made to move from that neighborhood.

Unbelievable. Judging from the comments on the story, these people may be in for some attacks themselves.
Nobody has said what supposedly started this feud, not that anything justifies this horrible behavior.

I have nothing against hate if it is appropriately directed. Even if you HATE your neighbor, what sort of sick person taunts him about his dying child? What we have here is not just hate, the neighbor is a sociopath at best and perhaps a psychopath.

Why wait until Halloween? A dozen a day seems appropriate, with an extra 6 for the truck.

She and her husband are in for a really rude awakening.
Their address and phone number were posted in the comments and on a site that people were warned not to go to. I’m not going but I’m sure that many others are.
