Repeal, Replace, Or Reconsider The Health Law?
Article Date: 22 Sep 2010 - 3:00 PDT
Health Care Lawsuit Services
Connecticut Law Tribune
If the federal government can compel Americans to purchase health insurance, attorneys for Virginia argued before Judge Hudson in July, it could also force you to buy any product to solve any national problem. ... Virginia's lawsuit presents a serious constitutional issue that should be accorded respect (9/20).
GOP Should Offer Alternate Plan To Health Care Policy
(Salem, Ore.,) Statesman Journal
[W]hile the Republican leadership may threaten outright repeal or denial of funding for implementation, they face one big problem - the ability to convince the public that they have a better solution (Ron Eachus, 9/21).
On 6-Month Birthday Of Health Law, Will Patient Protections Win It Some Love?
Politics Daily
Who among us would say no to free preventive care? To banishing lifetime limits on coverage? To making sure little kids with medical problems can get insurance, and big kids with no insurance -- up to age 26 - can stay on the family plan? Democrats are betting the answer is nearly no one (Jill Lawrence, 9/20).
Earning Dental Care
Muskegon (Mich.) Chronicle
A new program, now being tested by Public Health-Muskegon County, provides basic dental services to low-income residents without dental insurance in exchange for eight hours of volunteer service to area nonprofit agencies (Paula Holmes-Greeley, 9/21).
Sebelius' Threatening Behavior Defies Reality
The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle
In March, the Democrats gained sole possession of the U.S. health care system, lock, stock and rate increase. Politically, they own it all. Wait. Rate increase? Oops. All that stuff about "bending the cost curve down"? Never mind (E. Thomas McClanahan, 9/21).
So you're a senior citizen and the government says no health care for you, what do you do? Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets.
You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of Course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all the health care you need! New teeth, no problem. Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered. (And your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now).
And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care.
Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.
"You Republicans are just against everything. You don't offer any solutions."
"We seek tort reform and the right to sell insurance across state lines."
"If you have no ideas, you should support Obama's plan."
"We have ideas, you're just not listening."
"The main thing is lowering costs -- you Republicans have no idea how to do that."
"Tort reform would lower costs."
"See what I mean? You offer no solutions! And another thing, we need to expand availability."
"Allowing insurance to be sold across state lines would increase choices for everyone."
"It's like you Republicans just hate every idea. You want people to get sick and die, don't you?"
“You can keep your current coverage if you want”
What an evil pos
Our newly elected better not waiver on this REPEAL there is not fixing adjusting, or salvaging. KILL THE BILL!
I am sorry to disappoint the Dems. I would say no, loud and clear, to all of the above. Why, you say. Not because I don't think people should have access to health care. It is because health insurance COMPANIES shouldn't be forced to provide it. They sell a commodity. The old rules of insurance were safeguards for the companies. They made plenty of sense to capitalist thinking people like me. I accept the fact that companies are there to make a profit. THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM EVIL! D

Great - free dental services! One, this must create a bureaucratic nightmare to keep up with who owes how much time and credit for time served. Second, it must be a nightmare for a non-profit that must manage this influx of "workers". I know some of the people would be genuinely interested in helping. But, can you imagine some of the slugs they would be expected to work with. Sorry if that offends some of you, but the truth is the truth. There are undesirables who would qualify for this service and would show up at a nonprofit with their "attitudes" and make life miserable for the staff and administrators.
REPEAL!
The entire system is going to crush us as individuals and rob us of our freedom.
Period.
Repeal, repeal, repeal, repeal...
Could someone smarter than me (and you are legion :-) please explain to me, in some detail, how nobama care could be repealed?
Repeal. And add some laws specifically designed to prevent this sort of fecal matter from EVER occurring again. I mean laws underlining the limitations to what subjects Kahngress may dally with. I know it’s pie in the sky. So is their desire to return to doing this in the future with our willing participation.
It can't right now.
Obama will be able to veto anything that gets through reconcilliation and we don't have the votes to overide the veto. In Nov. if the Pubs do great they may get some Rats, but probably not enough. So the first step is to cut all funding to it, eliminate any new agencies involved with it and keep sending bills to obama. In 2012 if we win the Pres. then the whole thing can be abolished.
If that is not done, America is finished as a Constitutional Republic.
It is that serious.
Here’s what makes all arguments moot. WE ARE BROKE! Obamacare is DOA because we can’t pay for it and killing the plan is what we will have to default to no matter what. There won’t be enough solvent doctors and hospitals to implement Obamacare, much less solvent citizens to pay for it. Chaos is guaranteed.
We were just informed by our manager that the most popular plan employees choose, will no longer be available during our upcoming November open enrollment. It is being replaced by Bluecross/Blue Shield out of Illinois. Illinois? Who do we know with political ties there? We were also told that our out-of-pocket cost will be much higher, but details won't be known until November
When that happens you will be jailed. This means you get free room, three meals a day, free unlimited health care, free unlimited education, a safe place to visit with all of your friends and family, and free everything else. Plus you don't have to pay any taxes.
Who pays for it? The same government that just told you that you have to pay for health care!
Is this a great country or what?
I pisses me off that all these columnists keep writing about repeal, repeal, repeal. NOT gonna happen.
I'm concerned that next year, when repeal doesn't happen, all this repeal talk now will be held against us. "You promised repeal," etc.
We really need to shutup about repeal. IMHO, we won't have to votes needed to override a nobama veto for a long, long time, if ever. Thus, defunding is the only way to go.
It is not, "Repeal, Replace." It's "Defund, Replace."
The way the bill was written there is no 'exclusion' provision. IOW if one part of the bill is found to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL the whole bill is busted. That is the approach that must be taken..in the courts to declare for example that mandatory purchase of insurance by all citizens is unconstitutional.
Then, health care costs will become manageable.
As far as "fixing" what is perceived to be a healthcare problem, that truly isn't the federal goverment's job.
There are some fixes that would help, for instance, health insurance should be purchased by the individual, not a company...just like homeowners insurance or car insurance etc. Then the insured has control over what is being covered and at what levels, and you have policies tailored to the individual needs instead of a government mandated one size fits all. Additionally, the policy would then be portable to any place the insured goes. Of course you have to allow purchase across state lines then...but the only obstacle there is that government is in the way of allowing the system to work.
I think the Rats are counting on it. That's why in addition to defunding and overturning everything possible in the courts the Pubs have to keep sending bills repealing it. Attach the bills to Education funding. Attach the bills to all the "green" energy bills, etc. They can defund whole sections of the socialist bureaucracy under the guise of trying to repeal obamacare.
