Today is the Georgia Republican Primary.
This thread is intended for people, like me, who are removed enough from local politics to need guidance.
I am looking for non-Trent-Lott, Tea Party, Obama-foiling, non-bipartisan, Constitution loving candidates.
Who can give me information that will assist me in avoiding establishment RINOs?
I was leaning Deal, until the debate. He gave establishment answers and his answer to immigration was that he would “work with Washington”.
I am for Eric Johnson now, 100%!!!
Dr. John Barge for School Superintendent is a proponent of homeschooling, and a freeper said she attended one of his lectures on how socialism is destroying public education.
Preston Smith (AG) pledges to fight Obamacare. I’ve also heard he was relieved of his judiciary duties because he refused to raise taxes (keeping his pledge to his constituents).
Those three stand out to me!
That is disappointing to hear Deal say that.
Oxendine! No BS and no RINOness! Supports the Fair Tax and strong on the 10th amendment.
Johnson is also good. Gonna be a tough call for me today!
I am for Eric Johnson now, 100%!!!
Same here.
BYW - Karen Handel is not Pro-Life according to the Georgia Right to Life news release.
Thanks for posting this Laz. I am in the same situation.
I’m a Georgian on my way to the polls soon. You’re saying just what I’m thinking too. I did not make up my mind until this morning. My two main issues for gubernatorial/AG candidates are health care repeal and immigration.
I heard that too, which nixed her for me.
Take a look at Ray McBerry for governor at www.georgiafirst.org. A pro 2nd amendment, constitutionalist candidate.
Ray McBerry is my guy. Just say’en.
I am very impressed with Ray McBerry. As of right now he will be my wife’s and my choice for governor.
I'm from Missouri, and our experience here has been that if a candidate doesn't agree 100% with every detail of every RTL position, then that candidate will not get the RTL endorsement - no matter how pro-life he/she is on all other aspects of pro-life legislation.
Frankly, sometimes I find it to be very frustrating. MO-RTL will "throw out" a 90% pro-lifer and allow a 0% pro-choicer win the general election - just because of a disagreement on one item.
I agree with Ronald Reagan: I'd rather support someone I agree with on 80% of the issues than to allow someone I agree with 0% of the time to win.
I don't know anything about any of the candidates you're considering. I'm just saying, check their entire pro-life voting records before you accept or reject them at the polls.
I’m torn on who to vote for Gov. Since it will probably be a runnoff, I don’t want to throw away a my vote on a non front runner. Based on that poll link above (who know how accurate it is), looks like it’s Oxendine, Deal, Handel. Wife says She’s going Oxendine, as Handel isn’t pro life enough. Deal is out for me. Oxendine perhaps?? So is Handel really a wolf in sheep’s clothing on abortion? That would seal the deal against he for me. Perhaps I’ll just go for Johnson since it’s showing 19 which is just 1 point below Deal.. Yea, talking my self into that as I type this post :)
For District 9 (I’m on Forsyth Co), I am going with Graves who won the special election to fill Deal’s seat. Lee Hawkins seems to have Washington Insider/ RINO written all over him from my perspective. Had an Auto call from John Linder supporting Hawkins which was lame to my ears. It was whiny. Along the lines of “he said he toured for fair tax with me but he didn’t..he’s lair lair and his pants are on fire”. Whatever. Seemed desperate to me. I’m voting Graves.
Based on above post, Barge sounds good to me for School Sup.
Correction to my post above.. I see Johnson is 13% in that poll not 19%...
You're welcome. Let me know what you find.
Georgia Carry endorses Preston Smith. They are a good progun group!
“Ray McBerry is my guy. Just sayen.”.
Just listened to his adds on his web page, and he certainly says all the right things!
And Life is the foundation...
She is against abortion in all cases except rape, incest and life of the mother. Those exceptions are deal breakers for some of us. She donated a substantial sum to planned parenthood, and hasn’t successfully defended her donation to a log cabin republican group (which she says was a fraud - someone took her check and forged it) Things that make you go hmmmm.
There are 6 conservatives in this race - based on what I’ve heard and read, Handel is the least conservative.
Maybe she is conservative by a blue state measure, but when you have several outstanding conservatives to choose from, you really don’t have to “settle”.
