The kids on the Mayflower were with their parents and experienced sailors, as well. No one is saying children should not be allowed to TRAVEL.
There is a lot of equivocation in the posts defending this sail. Since we don’t want a 16 year old sailing solo in deep ocean in the winter, we obviously don’t want children sailing with their parents on the Mayflower?
I believe that you misunderstand my post. Read the post that I was responding to.
Pre-teens were cabin boys, and toted powder changes and cannon shot on warships in the 18th and 19th century. Pitcairn Island is named after the 15 year old lookout who first sighted the island. We used to have more respect for our children.
