Former presidential candidate McCain battling for his political life against GOP conservative

A serious re-election fight wasn't what Republican John McCain expected when he returned to the Senate after losing the presidency.

But the four-term senator is battling for his political life in a race that embodies the volatility of an unpredictable election year. He's facing former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, a fellow Republican pushing him farther to the right as GOP voters demand conservative purity in their candidates and punish those with ties to the Washington establishment.

Two longtime Senate incumbents have fallen —

Your hero, McCommie, traitor to his country and to our state, wouldn’t allow it.

I would never waste a vote on a pig like McCain. He’s 95% of what Obama is, and if you think that 5% would cause me to stick with McCain, you need to see a doctor.

The man has a long service record for our nation and is indeed a true American hero...............
Yes he had a long service record and went through very trying times as a POW. However he has been a terrible Senator, he gets worse every year.

Let's expand a bit on that little 'hero' factoid that the McCainiacs toss around...

The fact is, McCain, by his own admission, was 'broken' by torture while held prisoner by the Communists in North Vietnam. His own psychological fitness to hold ANY office is questionable, based upon his own behavior and conduct which on many occasions has been less than stable.

McCain went out of his way to figuratively and *literally* embrace his former Communist captors in working tirelessly to shut down any and all inquiries into the issue of MIAs and POWs unaccounted for and possibly held by Hanoi. He treated MIA-POW families with contempt, while he had only kind words and gestures for the North Vietnamese Commies:

The fact is, any good that McCain may have done during his military service has been UNdone in the years following, specifically once he attained elective office.

Even Benedict Arnold was hailed as a hero before he revealed his true colors as a turncoat. Even a casual student of history ought to understand that.

Did you see JD’s new web ad? It’ great, it ends with the announcer asking Arizonans to name something McCain has done for AZ. The woman is great, just just laughs and walks away.

What possible vested interest could you have to support John McCain? Honestly, it makes absolutely no sense. If you’re a Conservative McCain disagrees with you most of the time. So what drives you to give other forum participants grief, for not supporting him?

A Conservative wouldn’t do that.

A paid shill would.
A Democrat on a mission would.
A person from a foreign country would.
A person who was an illegal immigrant would.
A member of La Raza or Mecha would.
A person on McCain’s staff would.

So which of these things are you?

And we can rule out Conservative off the top, so tell us which of these you are, or tell me which group you’re a member of that I left out.

No, but I don’t expect conservatives to vote for a “treasonous bastard”, a “Democrat mole”, or a “traitor” either.

Good, then you must really be for JD Hayworth, happy to hear the great news.

There are certainly some strange forces at work on this one.

Let me help you out a bit there D1 ...

I submit that if Sarah Palin had endorsed and supported J.D. Hayworth, that all of her groupies would already be marching on Phoenix to show their support for “their,,,,next,,,,Senator,,,J.D.,,,HAYWORTH!!!

Monkey see, monkey do.

And thank you for posting that, this myth of his heroism really needs to be examined. As a first-generation American whose parents escaped from the Communists, I have ZERO sympathy for anyone who sides with ANY Communists.

I have read more and even worse things, but of course don't have the source now, will need to try to dig out.

With the emphasis on 'strange'.

Got to take off for a little while D1 and will be back later on, let me know if anyone starts cracking wise about my maybe having a coronary or some other sudden malady, would you? It recently came to my attention that some posters wouldn't mind seeing me drop dead in my tracks.

I sincerely plan to disappoint them, if (as Hank Williams Sr might have said) "the Good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise"... ;)

You are so eager to intoxicate yourself with the 1-percenter tonic that you would bad-mouth good people to get your way, and help the Dims.

You are stark raving mad if you think this boils down to Republicans vs. Democrats.

I am out to help conservatives. Period.

Unfortunately for the RINO tools running the GOP, that means that sometimes I'm going to support Republicans, and other times I'm going to veer third party or even Democrat (as in Bob Conley in South Carolina in 2008).

I’m hoping he gets enough money to blitz before the primary. I know McCain’s people are going to organize the dems to vote in the open primary, they always do, but if we can really get people out we may be able to overcome them.

I do too, it will be a tough hill to climb. We will have to really get behind the wagon. Get the knowledge out to the consevative base, that McCain is organizing the dems for votes should help.

Perhaps so. I just have a real hard time pigeon holing people who champion candidates that stand directly opposed to what we say we do here.

It’s 1-percenters like you that gave us Obamacare, open homosexuality in the military, and giant “stimulus” plans. And McCain is a lot more conservative than you folks are admitting.
