Times Square Block Shut Down

NYPD closed off streets from 42nd to 47th along Broadway in New York City. Police shut down a block in the heart of Times Square Saturday night after receiving a call about a suspicious car fire, delaying some Broadway shows by more than an hour.
The call came in just after 6:30 and as of 9 p.m., 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues had not been opened. When police initially responded, they saw smoke coming out of the car but no fire.

Police said a bomb squad investigation was on the scene and that the car on fire was a sport utility vehicle had license plates that didn't match the make of the car, raising suspicions.
On one of the theater district's busiest nights, some shows, including "The Lion King," were delayed by an hour or more, according to the Broadway World website.
Oprah Winfrey was in attendance of the new hit "Fela," being shown at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on West 49th Street, and the production began on time and wasn't interrupted.

Guess I'm about as nutty as you because that's what I first thought about. Maybe it wasn't supposed to go off, period. Warning, diversion, fear, etc. etc.
FNC finally started reporting on it about ten minutes ago.
It was the night of the White House Correspondents Dinner, and many were there or covering that (and drinking) so on top of the normal lousy coverage, it was a weekend and a weekend in which they once again cover and celebrate the most important people in the world- themselves. They have no time for silly little things like tourists in danger and carbombs in America.
I wondered that too. How long before they blame it on us gun hugging, bible packing terrorists. Or is it gun packing, bible hugging?
I can’t keep it straight..... I suspect that it’s a good thing that the big wigs are at the dinner tonight and that we’re hearing from NYPD before the DHS. I think we’ll get more info at first here until they swoop in and try to throw dirt on it.

Well putting on my tinfoil for the moment, if it does turn out to be a white person whom they catch, and they link him to the Tea Party, I am going to be very suspicious that the whole thing was staged.
