Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed a controversial bill that seeks to crack down on illegal immigration.

The sweeping measure will make it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It will also require local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.

Earlier, President Obama called the bill "misguided" and said it could violate people's civil rights. The bill's Republican sponsor, state Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, said Obama and other critics of the bill were "against law enforcement, our citizens and the rule of law."

Interesting.

I’m an Arizona native but I don’t follow the state politics except for McCain, Hayworth and Napolitano. Keeping track of Tennessee now, you see.

Any good Repubs running in the gubernatorial primary?

There are a ton of listed candidates. I don’t know much at all about most of them.

http://www.politics1.com/az.htm

State Treasurer Dean Martin among them.

AZ Freeper Arizona Carolyn may have an idea.

They all seem to be blasting Brewer for the tax hike.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is considering running. But his endorsement of Napalitano in her close 2002 race still leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.

There are no runoffs in AZ. I’m afraid the anti-Brewer vote may be split.

RIP Bob.

We need to support Governor Brewer and Arizona as they under a full attack from the pro-illegal forces. There is a boycott to which I respond that we institute a buycott. Obama is gathering the lawyers. Even Al Sharpton is getting involved.

Buy Arizona! Boycott companies that are boycotting AZ!
