AZ-Sen. 2010: Tea Party could hit its boiling point in Arizona primary (WaPo attacks J.D.) (BARF!)
The Washington Post ^ | 2010-04-20 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 04/19/2010 9:16:08 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

When Arizona's bitter Republican primary election arrives in August, it is likely to be 102 degrees in the shade, of which there is little. It is the kind of weather in which only the hearty and highly motivated venture outdoors -- Gila monsters and Tea Party activists. Which may not be good news for Sen. John McCain, who is generally disliked by the latter.

A recent poll puts McCain just five points ahead of J.D. Hayworth, a former congressman and radio talk show host who aspires to be Arizona's Samuel Adams. McCain operatives dispute that the race is this close, but they cannot dispute that McCain is running in a political environment in which absolutely anything could happen to an incumbent.

Notice how he manages to inject an accusation of Nazism into his smear:

McCain's RINOs and RINAs will say anything.

Whole different frame of mind living in AZ.

It's like the North Dakota cold - keeps a lot of the riff raff out. :)

He (J.D.Hayworth.) is, I would bet, the only Tea Party candidate with a history of hosting fundraisers in lobbyist Jack Abramoff's sports skyboxes....been enthusiastic legislative earmarkers, or voted for the Medicare prescription drug benefit, or supported the 2005 highway bill, which included the "bridge to nowhere"?

Is all of this true?

Hayworth is a moron... I will be embarrassed if he wins...

In the few interviews I've seen of him, he's been pretty impressive. No Einstein, by any stretch, but he held his own.

>> McCain’s Democrat backers are pulling out ALL the stops to try to save him.

Which means McCain will be indebted to the Left, not to mention his affinity for Leftist policies.

Better emarrassed then suffering 6 more years from the guy most responsible for the mess Republicans made of Congress. McCain was the one who rallied dissent among Republicans all as payback for not winning the nomination and to get on the good side of the liberal elite.

I don’t agree with your assssment of J.D. but even if I did it would be worth it to finally be rid of Maverick and make the Republican establishment break out in a cold sweat.

He's not much liked by the former, either.

No. Hayworth was cleared of ALL Abramoff charges...McCain is the one who got big bucks from the firm Abramoff headed.

This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2008 election cycle.

John McCain
Merrill Lynch $373,595
Citigroup Inc $322,051
Morgan Stanley $273,452
Goldman Sachs $230,095
Greenberg Traurig LLP $146,437 (Abramoff)[snip]

Start here. Read all my posts on that thread. McCain is the one with the corrupt past.

Indians, Lobbyists and Arizona Politics...OH MY!

I hadn’t even noticed that Gerson is the writer. He’s an amnesty pushing POS who uses leftist smears to attack conservatives. From his wikipedia entry:

“Gerson, a conservative, has repeatedly criticized other conservatives in his column and conservatives have returned the favor. One of Gerson’s first columns was entitled “Letting Fear Rule”, in which he compared skeptics of President Bush’s immigration reform bill to nativist bigots of the 1880s.”

You obviously do not live in AZ. On the slim chance you do live here I am embarrassed that you feel this way.

Michael Medved’s first foray into politics was as an anti-Vietnam War protester. He went on to work for a Congressman whose politics can fairly be described as Stalinist, red Ron Dellums.

I think every once in awhile Medved gets in touch with his inner teenage communist self and just has to call someone a nazi, preferably someone to his right whom he wants to drive out of the public arena.

He’s a regular Grima Wormtongue, counseling conservatives to just give up and to get behind some open borders RINO of Medved’s choosing.

I will be voting for JD and I won’t be embarrassed.

I met a nice lady from AZ at a conference recently. She was quite enthusiastic about JD and his chances. I hope she was right.

From the Article:

At his best, McCain is precisely what a senator should be -- independent, passionate, unawed by power, unmoved by influence.

Oh, stop, you're killing me...

So how many citizens of Arizona base their voting choice upon what the Marxist Washington Post says?

The Propagandists on the Potomac are clearly delusional, much like their philosophical bretheren hiding in the German bunker in 1945.
