An Army doc who refuses to go to Afghanistan until President Obama produces a birth certificate will face court-martial.
Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, a decorated military man who has become a part of the fringe "birther" movement - which believes President Obama was not born in the United States - could face a dishonorable discharge for failing to obey orders, MSNBC reported on Tuesday.
The 18-year veteran came out in support of the largely discredited conspiracy theorists at the end of March, proclaiming he would "disobey" his "illegal" orders to deploy.
"I believe all servicemen and women, and the American people, deserve the truth about President Obama's constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief," he said in a video statement posted on YouTube on March 30.
The Bronze Star Medal recipient refuses to go to Afghanistan for a second tour until Obama releases his birth certificate showing he was, in fact, born in the U.S.
"Seeking out public office, especially the highest in our land, means you must uphold the Constitution, Mr. President, and confirm your eligibility," Lakin said in the video.
The Army doctor was informed of his court-martial by his brigade commander, and his Pentagon building pass and laptop have been seized, MSNBC reported.

Not at all. I merely point out that not everyone who refuses to follow orders deserves to be insulted for it. Sometimes it is proper and brave to say "No".
Even when it’s proven the defense will be “John McCain was born in Panama and we determined he was eligible. Therefore Obama is eligible.” Never mind that it’s apples to oranges. The press will say it and it will be. Sorta’ like Yule Brenner in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. “So it is written. So let it be done.”
No he is not. His commander is such a recipient.
You miss the point and deliberately, I suspect. How about an entire Military already deployed and acting under the orders of a poser President. The one who should be up for Court Marshall is Obama, himself. HE is the one who is in disobeyance.
If only reason might prevail; but no; we are punishing a man who has demonstrated nothing but patriotism and altruism for his country; and has risked his life many times, to that 'call'. His decision here is not an act of 'cowardice' but one of great courage and committment; and only a true patriot would go forward here. He is not jeopardizing the 'next man in'; he is tryng to protect our Military from acting under what may be an illegality; and trying to protect our Country from what could be 'dire consequences' if this were so.
Obama has YET to come forth to authenticate not only his BC; but his almost his entire life; by which almost all records have been sealed. (What arrogance, this Prez exhibits; and 'will to power' so embedded in it!)
Obama is a disgrace both as a President and CIC. Worse; and more to point; he is a threat to us all. The enemy we face here at home as dangerous if not moreso; than those, far away.
Kudos to Lt.Col. Lakin; this is a man who lives his life on Principle; and is prepared to give up a great deal for his willingness to act on it; not only on his behalf; but on behalf of his Country - as he confronts the enemy within.
Doesn’t the proceeding give him the right to call witnesses, produce documents, etc.? Like the long-form birth certificate?
Will the US government really let this veteran rot in prison without letting him prove his case - and without making Obama prove his?
I thought that other similar suits were dealt with by rescinding the orders to deploy. Maybe this will eventually happen here also.

Having not been in the military, when I think of an illegal order, I am thinking of mowing down unarmed civilians or something like that. It will be interesting to see if the duly elected CIC could infact be found to have issued illegal orders because of his birth status.
It is now time for Obama to put up or shut up.
Putin needs to declare that all US citizens are automatically and until death also citizens of Russia.
This would immediately disqualify every American from being President, since we all would have dual citizenship and be subjects of Russia. And with no President, we wouldn’t have any legal military orders. With no legal orders, the military falls apart, and Putin walks in and takes over.
I can’t believe the Russians haven’t figure it out yet...
I believe the honorable thing to do is follow the lawful orders of your commanding officer. LCOL Lakin choses not to and will probably wind up on the wrong side of a court martial verdict because of it. His choice.

WHATEVER happens, the media will spin it as Obama persecution.
But Obama will be shown to be a liar, and will never have credibility again.
I personally suspect that Obama is eligible to be president - because Frank Marshall Davis, not Barack Obama Sr., is his biological father.
I may just be speculating, but that’s what people do when the facts are withheld. In this sense, Obama himself is the biggest “birther” out there. His secrecy is the fuel for the fire.
Only if they are relevant for defending himself against the charges that have been filed. From what I've heard he's been charged with missing movement and conduct unbecoming an officer. Hard to see where Obama enters into either of those.

One was, but that was a reservist who had volunteered to go. Filing suit was taken as evidence he had un-volunteered. An Army Captain named Connie Rhodes filed suit to prevent from being deployed. Her suit was tossed and she wound up in Iraq anyway.
I may be nit-picking here, but if the CIC is not eligible he cannot have been duly elected.
I think the media will spin it as yet another Birther wackjob. I hope to God Lakin is smart enough not to let Orly Taitz withing a thousand miles of his case.
Then I guess the answer to my other question - whether the government is prepared to put this man in jail rather than produce a $12 piece of paper - is yes.
I think that will gain a lot of publicity.
