Unpopular among the Leftwing including the PaulBots.

With the success of the serge, I have spoke with even some Democrats who admit this.

IF you think sitting at home, the IslamOfascists will pack it in and go home, you are delusional.

The IslamOfascists are all over the world including America.

The terrorists who flew the plane into the Pentagon lived 6 miles from me here in San Diego.
Their Imam, Anwar al-Awlaki lived in San Diego for 4 yrs.
He later moved to Yemen where he radicalizes terrorists.
On computer he radicalized the Jordanan American Dr. who shot up Ft. Hood in TX
Awlaki radicalized the Nigerial face to face who tried to set off a bomb over Detroit Christmas day.

After 9/11 I learned one of the 19 who flew the planes into the WTC lived a block away from me in Phoenix before moving to NY. Scary.

I like Newt and am glad to see he exceeded (my) expectations here. He’s intelligent, insightful and sophisticated. Yes, he has (a lot of) baggage but baggage is surmountable.

Exactly, they are all over the U.S.
The PaulBots want to see more attackes on America.
They think this is our punishment for defending ourselves.

Unpopular with the people who voted for President in 2008.
We lost mostly because of the Iraq War - the Iraq War was the #1 reason. Huge numbers of people made the decision not to vote for the Republican last time around back in 2007 - people who did vote for George Bush in 2004.

I’m talking only about the Iraq War being unpopular. It was and we lost because of it. I have no opinion on how dangerous terrorism is, or whether the war was effective in curtailing terrorism. I’m just pointing out that the Iraq War means we lost and we got Obama.

I know that his position. Personally, I think its a crazy notion.

There are lots of issues to be concerned about when voting for a candidate but security is near the top, if not first, for me as a voter.

I think it was the economy as to why Bush lost.

Everyone beats Paul that isn’t a question, that is what puzzles us about his groupies, just like Ralph Nader for the dems, Paul and the people he attracts take up so much energy and time that distracts from the real business of the elections.

As you go one threads related to the 2012 Presidential election, look at how much waste and distraction is generated by the people that insist on pretending that Paul might take the primary and be the man that defeats the Democratic machine and Barack Obama. The fantasy isn’t real of course, but they pretend that it is real, and they insist on playing that game among the people here that truly are interested in politics and winning elections and stopping incumbent President Obama.

QWe are able to pull out of Iraq because the serge was a success along with other tactics.
OF the Military people I speak with both active and ret.
two I speak with often, a ret. Marine Major and Navy Capt. SEAL.

There are over 35,000 Iraqis in San Diego, most are Chaldeal Christians.
Their stories of torture and escape from Sadam should be heard by the supporters of IsloamOfascists in this country
including the PaulBots.

“With a series of 1s and 2s at these straw polls he wouldn’t be slotted by the media as a 3rd tier candidate like he was in 2007. Logically, winning or coming in second in straw poll after straw poll would put him into the top tier,

My fault. You are beyond deluded. You have tasted the koolaid and it appeals to you.

You are either just out of high school or incredibly ignorant to think that these useless strawpolls make Ron Paul into a 2nd tier candidate.

He is a no tier dipshit conspiracy kook. Your support says what it says.

No, seriously, you’re letting your distaste for Ron Paul color your assessment of how the media, logically, should slot candidates into tiers.

You might not like Ron Paul, but he is the one who is winning these straw polls. After candidates announce they’re running for President, the media, traditionally, starts calling candidates “top-tier” “second-tier” and “third-tier” Sometimes there are 2 tiers. You should know this.

What the media should do is look at evidence, and use that evidence to make their determination. If Ron Paul keeps winning these straw polls or coming in 2nd, that’s enough real evidence to indicate that he should be considered in the top tier. Now, I’m not talking about the preferences of the media. The media hates Ron Paul more than they hate Sarah Palin. I do not believe that the media will put Ron Paul in the top tier. Ron Paul will raise a lot of money, right away. That’s conjecture at this point, but Ron Paul
wasn’t well known in 2007, and it look a long time to get well known enough to raise over $5 a day in the good money bombs. This time around he’d quickly raise that kind of money right after announcing. So, when putting together tiers, the media would have to consider important victories in straw polls and impressive fundraising results. Those are objective, and can be measured. If I was to guess right now, Paul would have the straw poll numbers and the money to rank him in top tier and his poll numbers would be less strong.

That’s a reasonable argument to make. One could say the economy, or the bailouts related to the economy. But Bush and the Republicans were in bad shape Nov 2006 before the economy really started to turn south and that was due to the Iraq War. Certainly it would’ve been closer if the economy was better.

LOL. Finny, I wish you would have asked her, but I fully understand I know why you didn’t. I wouldn’t have bothered either. I knew from the start that global warming was a hoax because when I was in school, predictions of a new ice age were a momentary rage. Like you said, beware of gullible politicans. They’re almost always looking for more control over us through our pocketbooks.

I’m not a classic Ron Paul supporter. I think Ron Paul should stop talking about Foreign Policy to Republicans so much, the classic Ron Paul supporter wants to fight about that.

I will say that I support Ron Paul because he is the best bet we have, to actually cut government, to actually make government smaller.

So, I guess, the question I’m answering is “who do I want to be President?” I want Ron Paul to be President, because I think he’ll make government smaller. Romney, Newt, Huck would all grow government. I like Palin, but I’m much more sure that Ron Paul would cut goverment, and cut government more, than I am that Palin would.

By the way, the most energy at all is spent by dimwits posting goofy pictures and mocking Ron Paul. I made the recommendation that people here on Free Republic to get off their asses and go down to New Orleans and plunk down their $119 for Sarah Palin. I guess Sarah Palin didn’t have 500 supporters on Freerepublic who actually cared enough about Palin. No, Palin’s support specializes in making fun of Ron Paul here on Free Republic. It doesn’t help Palin at all, but it makes the people doing it feel better.

“Sarah, how can I help?”

“Well, you can come on down to New Orleans and vote for me in the SRLC straw poll. I’ll be there speaking.”

“Well, I’d love to do that Sarah, but, really, I have this photoshopped picture of Ron Paul, and it’s more important, I think, that, after he beats you because you can’t get 500 passionate supporters to vote for you in New Orleans, I post that picture to mock Ron Paul.”

The army has a saying for young day dreamers, "Wish in one hand and defecate in the other, and see which one fills faster" it is meant to get them to abandon the youthful habit of "wishing" and to get to back to working with the realities available.

Well buddy, since you know how it’s gonna turn out, who will the Republican Nominee be?

You either know what’s gonna happen, or you don’t.

I don’t. So I support the candidate who I think would be best.

You can finish this statement for yourself “I support the candidate who ________________________ .”

What did you put?

No one knows who will win from the pool of serious contenders, but Ralph Nader, Ron Paul, Alan Keyes, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin will not be among the actual contenders for the Presidency, they are merely there for the chance to be on the fringes of grandeur and to keep a following.

I don’t know who is going to win, but we all know who isn’t even on the list of possible winners, and Ron Paul is on that list.

Well, I knew what you were going to say, so I put my answer in.

If you don’t know who is going to win you don’t know who isn’t.

You either know or you don’t. You don’t.

This is a primary race. You vote for who you want for the primary. You don’t go all situational for the primaries. That’s how you get RINOs. Throw out the RINOs in the primaries. Then, for the general, don’t go for the 3d party. You worked hard to get the guy you wanted in the primary, so you either got your guy or you didn’t.

You seem to be angling for a McCain II situation, talking about electability and whatnot. Independents and Moderates won’t vote for a Conservative (they say). We need to nominate a Moderate so we can win (they say).

I believe that if Ron Paul got the nomination, he’d do as well against Obama as a generic Republican. If the economy is as bad in 2 odd years, the Republican would likely win.

So, Ron Paul deserves to be considered at least a second tier candidate based on the evidence. But he’s not the front runner, the likely nominee or anything.

Ralph Nader, Alan Keyes, Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin were not winning Straw Polls.

If you don’t know who is going to win you don’t know who isn’t.

Is that supposed to make sense? Not knowing which of the serious contenders is going to win is a lot different than not being able to weed out the impossibles.

I can't believe that we are even having this conversation.

If I understand you correctly, you believe that Ron Paul has a real chance to take the Republican nomination to be President of the United States, is that correct?
