Texas Republican Rep. Randy Neugebauer was the mysterious lawmaker that shouted baby killer during Rep. Bart Stupaks (D-Mich.) floor speech Sunday night, his office said Monday.
Rumors that Neugebauer was the yeller began swirling Sunday night, after several lawmaker surmised that the scream was tinted with a southern accent.
Last night was the climax of weeks and months of debate on a health care bill that my constituents fear and do not support, Neugebauer said in a news release. In the heat and emotion of the debate, I exclaimed the phrase its a baby killer in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership. While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself.

He got what he could. Who objects to him not wanting to pay for elective abortions? I have always objected to paying for anyone’s elective abortions. I am a woman. If I got pregnant, and it was an unwanted pregnancy..I would not have an abortion for one thing...also...if someone did have an unwanted pregnancy...who in the heck would think they were entitled to tax payers paying for it? It just blows my mind that anyone would think they were entitled to taxpayers money to pay for an unwanted abortion. How arrogant and ignorant is that?
He should have called him a lying, deceitful, back-stabbing, greedy, baby killer.
“I’m Randy Neugebauer”
just doesn’t have the same ring as
If you don't understand why people are upset with Stupak you have NOT been paying attention.
I beg to differ. I have spent the weekend listening. To all of those involved. And it was not easy to listen to most of it. It made my hair hurt.
He should have said: “I’ll apologize when Present Obortion and his henchmen apologize to the Supreme Court justices for their disgustingly rude, 3rd world junta like conduct!”
What makes you think Stupak acted correctly then?
Just sent him a note of support.
“I am Spartacus!”
And so it begins...
Southerners have an accent; Texans have a drawl.
With that kind of insult you expect me to communicate with you? Insults are not conducive to healthy debate. Thank you for your comment....but I take issue with the insult. It was uncalled for.
Also, though this has nothing to do with abortion, it has much to do with the sense of entitlement so many seem to have when it comes to taxpayer’s money. There was an interview with a young lady who had had a baby..she was an unwed mother. The interview was about state funded child care for unwed mothers so they would stay in school. Her complaint was that though she appreciated the day time child care, she was upset that she did not get the same for child care at night. She said...why dont we get tax payer funded childcare for night? Dont people expect us to have a social life??? HOn...that is why you are in the predicament you are in now...silly goose.
There are damn fine reasons people would be, and should be, angry at Stupak.
If you wish to take a pass on why you think they should not, I won't begrudge you taking that cowardly option, but let us not blame the thinness of your skin for your refusal.
I'm surprised the author didn't say "tainted with a southern accent".
You are still using insults..a new one....do you speak to people with whom you disagree at your dinner table? Or in person? I have a friend who disagrees with me on several points politically. She and I have been friends for over 50 years. We first met in our small hometown in vacation bible school. Never in a million years would I insult her..or her me...we can disagree...but we love each other dearly and have a tremendous respect for each other. Also, I am married...over 44 years to a blue dog democrat. Never have I insulted him. Nor he I. Why you think I am going to discuss anything with you after two insults, I have no idea.
Do you often get a case of the vapors when, after you say “I don't understand” and someone points out that ‘if you don't understand you haven't been paying attention’, and when reply that you HAVE been paying attention wonder what mental deficiencies might have caused your inability to see what should be obvious?
Why people are mad at Stupak should be obvious.
I wonder why you are unable to either see why people would be mad, and unable to explain why what Stupak did was just A-OK.
Your case of the vapors seems a convenient excuse to not answer the question as to why Stupak is supposedly unassailable on this issue and that people have no legitimate reason to be upset with him.
So it’s OK to kill a baby, just don’t say it.....
If anyone has the vapours, it is not I.
Ted Poe is my Congressman, his office is right down the road in Kingwood.
We’re rather fond of him! ;-)
He was a Harris Co. Judge previously, and he rocked at that, too.
How soon until the SEIU goons start performing “Nightwatch” duties?
Why do you think Stupak acted correctly such that nobody reasonable should be angry with him?
I disagree with Stupak’s vote for healthcare. I agree with him that no one should expect taxpayers to pay for elective abortions. Period.
If he was referring to Stupak personally, it was against House rules. Thats why he apologized. Boehner warned all Republicans before the vote NOT to make any personal remarks. Lets move on.
Wow. Must be so hard to see why people might be upset!
Especially if they were Pro-life and voted for this guy based upon his supposed Pro-life position. Oh yeah, they have no legitimate reason to be upset with him/s.
I find your reasoning not compelling to say the least. Period.
The proper response is, “yeah, I did it and screw you!”
That is fine. We can disagree. And I can disagree with you without insulting you. I spoke to my senator and their chief of staff. The chief of staff agrees with you...my senator agrees with me. So...never the twain shall meet even between the two of them. And they do it without insulting each other. Amazing isn’t it?
Do you begin to understand NOW why people would be mad at Stupak, or do you still consider their anger misplaced?
The “mental defective” prevents you and me from communicating any longer. Thank you for our discussion. It has been....enlightening...kind of...I guess...in some way. Maybe...maybe not so much. I think we both wasted our keystrokes.
Welcome to the world of politics.
I can assure you that the ability to be ruthless is what will separate the victors from the vanquished.
Do not welcome me to the world of politics. I have worked with and for politicians for decades. I know them well. And none of those for whom I worked ever sunk so low as to call names and very little rhetoric came from their campaigns. They are all respected and were/are successful and I am proud to have worked with them. I no longer do...but enjoyed the years I put in working with them.
I love Texans.
Me, too. They tell it like it is.
I worked for Henry Bonilla for every term except the last one. I received a call from one of his campaign workers during that last campaign telling me he was going to start negative campaigning against his dem opponent. I said then, he will lose if he resorts to this. He did not need to do this. He was popular and well respected. He did..and he lost. Even though I had said he would, I was stunned when he did.
Don't be so naive, for God's sake.
The actions of Stpak were deceitful and manipulative.
I hope the people of his district throw him out for his sheer dishonesty.
That was not naive. It was a fact.
There is no one so blind as one who refuses to see.
People are correct to be angry with Stupak, your supposed inability to see their reason notwithstanding.
Just because your enemy is friendly towards you doesn't mean he is not an enemy. Those who smile at you while working against your very core belief are your enemy, whether you recognize it or not.
Example; Orin Hatch stated his best friend was Ted Kennedy. One was a traitor, the other was a fool, you decide which.
Talk is cheap... let’s give the guy money. I just donated to him. Just like Joe Wilson that will sting the media when they come after him.
And Scalia and Ginsburg are best friends. They have dinner at each other’s homes every week. They vacation together with their families several times a year. Who cares? Why is this anyone else’s business. Many republicans are best friends with democrats in the house and the senate. I have never understood why anyone cares...or why people do not understand how easy this is. A friendship has nothing to do with one’s politics. Nothing. And it is no one’s business.
That is your opinion. It is not a fact anymore than my opinion is fact. We disagree. Period.
I have given my reason why their anger at Stupak is legitimate.
Absent a compelling reason why their anger is somehow misplaced, I can only conclude that their anger is well founded and directed at an appropriate target.
Why are they apologizing? He is a baby killer and this dictate from Frau Pelosi will end with babies being killed.. If he loved life and was against the taking of innocent life, he would be a Republican not a traitorous democrat. They’re all baby killers.
So which applies, traitor, or fool.
Help us out.. on the Lubbock online site. Lot’s of loons coming on stating their views... FREEP AWAY
I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to like to hang out with people who actively work for the prince of this world.
Thanks.. US Texan’s don’t back down.
But go online to FREEP this site.. and give a comment.
It seems he lost the Mex-American votes and had some troubles after redistricting. I doubt negative campaigning had all that much of an effect. After all, his opposition campaigned negatively and it didn’t hurt Rodriguez.
