Randy Neugebauer: I yelled 'baby killer'
Politico ^ | 03/22/10 | JAKE SHERMAN

Texas Republican Rep. Randy Neugebauer was the mysterious lawmaker that shouted “baby killer” during Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) floor speech Sunday night, his office said Monday.

Rumors that Neugebauer was the yeller began swirling Sunday night, after several lawmaker surmised that the scream was tinted with a southern accent.

“Last night was the climax of weeks and months of debate on a health care bill that my constituents fear and do not support,” Neugebauer said in a news release. “In the heat and emotion of the debate, I exclaimed the phrase ‘it’s a baby killer’ in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership. While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself.”

Welcome to the world of politics.

I can assure you that the ability to be ruthless is what will separate the victors from the vanquished.

Do not welcome me to the world of politics. I have worked with and for politicians for decades. I know them well. And none of those for whom I worked ever sunk so low as to call names and very little rhetoric came from their campaigns. They are all respected and were/are successful and I am proud to have worked with them. I no longer do...but enjoyed the years I put in working with them.

I worked for Henry Bonilla for every term except the last one. I received a call from one of his campaign workers during that last campaign telling me he was going to start negative campaigning against his dem opponent. I said then, he will lose if he resorts to this. He did not need to do this. He was popular and well respected. He did..and he lost. Even though I had said he would, I was stunned when he did.

Stupak did not have anything to do with abortion being a legal procedure.

Don't be so naive, for God's sake.

The actions of Stpak were deceitful and manipulative.

I hope the people of his district throw him out for his sheer dishonesty.

So then you still fail to see why people might legitimately have a grievance against Rep Stupak.

There is no one so blind as one who refuses to see.

People are correct to be angry with Stupak, your supposed inability to see their reason notwithstanding.

Nor he I. Why you think I am going to discuss anything with you after two insults, I have no idea.

Just because your enemy is friendly towards you doesn't mean he is not an enemy. Those who smile at you while working against your very core belief are your enemy, whether you recognize it or not.

Example; Orin Hatch stated his best friend was Ted Kennedy. One was a traitor, the other was a fool, you decide which.

Talk is cheap... let’s give the guy money. I just donated to him. Just like Joe Wilson that will sting the media when they come after him.

And Scalia and Ginsburg are best friends. They have dinner at each other’s homes every week. They vacation together with their families several times a year. Who cares? Why is this anyone else’s business. Many republicans are best friends with democrats in the house and the senate. I have never understood why anyone cares...or why people do not understand how easy this is. A friendship has nothing to do with one’s politics. Nothing. And it is no one’s business.

That is your opinion. It is not a fact anymore than my opinion is fact. We disagree. Period.

Yes, but you cannot seem to articulate your reason why peoples anger at Stupak is somehow not legitimate.

I have given my reason why their anger at Stupak is legitimate.

Absent a compelling reason why their anger is somehow misplaced, I can only conclude that their anger is well founded and directed at an appropriate target.

Why are they apologizing? He is a baby killer and this dictate from Frau Pelosi will end with babies being killed.. If he loved life and was against the taking of innocent life, he would be a Republican not a traitorous democrat. They’re all baby killers.

It seems he lost the Mex-American votes and had some troubles after redistricting. I doubt negative campaigning had all that much of an effect. After all, his opposition campaigned negatively and it didn’t hurt Rodriguez.
