When friends fall into a spiral of self-destructive behavior, you have to try to break their delusions and set them on the right path. Thats what Patrick Caddell and Douglas Schoen are trying to do for President Obama and the Democratic Congress. The longtime pollsters warn in a Washington Post op-ed that if they dont stop their march of folly on health care, Democrats face an electoral rout in November:

Their article is a really good one, too. Obama should listen, these people are trying to help him. He’s in for a major fall. the kind the guys in white coats come and take you away fall.
I don’t think 0 and company give a rat’s rectum. It’s like they’re on a mad dash to destroy our economy and they are willing to sacrifice anything and everyone to reach that goal.
This clearly shows obama is a puppet of his handlers and can’t make real decisions and override his top advisors.
They are pushing for socialized medicine. So after Brown’s win in Mass they told him to push harder or they will really lose in November. Well they just lost the most Rat seat in the world...yet continuing down this road is seen as a way to stop the bleeding. He can’t think for himself and his advisors (like axelrod) just told him to double-down. I’ve seen “leaders” like this before...they can’t push back and tell their top advisors no or they can’t set the direction for their advisors.
It’s really sad to have such a wimp in the WH.
obama and his team are way too arrogant to admit any faults. They are going to fight all the way to the end regardless of how it comes out. He has no emotional attachment to this country or it’s people, so he has no anchor. He believes that he is a citizen of the world.
As decent and objective a guy as Pat Caddell seems to be, why he continues to screw around with Democrats is beyond me. He’s one of the few who “gets it”.
The Dems are crazy, but only half so. As many here have noted, a disaster at the polls in November is temporary in the long term scheme of things. If my goal was control of the people, I’d consider huge losses in Nov as a small sacrifice.
And that reasoning is good. Why? Because Republicans, the other side of the coin, are stupid and spineless. They have not the guts to repeal HC. And they are stupid enough to truly believe that winning in Nov. is going to last very long. It won’t.
I don’t know what the odds are the Rats can get it through, but if they are better than 50/50, I think it’s worth going for (from the point of view of their long term goals).
Pat Caddell may be the last BlueDog DRat standing or he maybe just a false front useful idiot. I trust him as much as I trust the toe-sucker Morris.
Don’t know of a country, but Doug Wilder was a pretty good governor here in VA, overall. At least, as I remember it - this was back in the late ‘80s.
I can see it now if the bill becomes law. This November is a route only a handful of seats won by the rats (and in the most communist discricts of the US). And they’d claim, “it’s a good thing we passed healthcare or we would have lost all the seats”.
Passing healthcare is really just a way for the most liberal politicians to hold onto power. The less liberal Rat politicians can kiss their hineys good-bye. I gues that’s one way to purge the party of impure ideology. But I thought it was the republicans that wouldn’t allow differing points of view in the party.
I really don’t think it matters much at this point. People are so freaked by the runaway power of Washington, they already see the need to put the brakes on these guys. Even if health care doesn’t pass, people have seen the Dems play to the middle, then ignore and dismiss them.
My only fear is that some insane person would try to harm the President or a congressional leader and that this horrible legislation would be passed in sympathy. People have been known to do stupid things like that before.
The insane leadership will not listen to these pollsters but the common rat will and it will help them cast a NO vote for self-preservation.
The key point that has to be hammered home in every conversation you have with friends and family about this government takeover is that it fundamentally REVERSES the relationship between the citizen and the government. IT DESTROYS FREEDOM AND IS ANTITHETICAL TO THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS WHICH THE GOVERNMENT WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROTECT: LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
If this passes, it will have the government telling you what you can do, what you can eat; then it will become what you must do, and what you must eat. THIS CONVERTS THE FREE-BORN CITIZEN TO A SLAVE, devoid of free will (and responsibility), shackled to the will of faceless bureaucrats.
Why do you think this has to do with Obama's bloodlines? I more appropriate comment would be has any country gotten better when it left capitalism and went to communism/socialism? Obama's skin color has nothing to do with it.
Plus a counter to that question would be when has a black person had the opportunity to lead a nation that was doing well? The implication is that most if not all the Western democracies are racists for not voting for a black leader. See how that works? You really don't want to make this about race it just makes you look stupid.
Or maybe he’s just a hard-bitten idealogue. Studying at the feet of Alinksky and Jeremiah Wright might have had a serious effect. Liberalism (or progessivism) really is a mental disorder, after all.
Completely agree.
Just like you do for an addict. Step back and let them crash...
