Weiner All Wound Up

Rep. Anthony Weiner says Republicans have chutzpah. Chutzpah is something the Brooklyn Democrat knows well.

While debating health insurance reform recently, Weiner stood up on the floor and ripped into Republicans, calling them "wholly owned subsidiaries of the insurance industry." After a few seconds, Rep. Dan Lungren, a Republican from California, asked that Weiner's words be "taken down," a rare request for the speaker to discipline a House member for using inappropriate language. Weiner left, then returned saying he would substitute his words. He actually sounded slightly remorseful. It was a ruse.

After he was given the nod for a second go-round, Weiner couldn't think of anything new to say but instead repeated his mantra. Lungren was not amused with this reiteration and asked that his remarks be taken down again. Weiner finished his rant with a conclusion about health insurance, competition and regulation that was confusing as it is comical.

The three-minute clip is circulating the Internet. Conservatives have been rolling their eyes -- National Review Online included the clip on its home page with the words: "Weiner Loses It." Liberals on the other hand are linking to it with pride. Daily Kos says it was "magnificent" and that Weiner's words should be their new mantra because it "makes a great sigline!"

Like any good politician (including Rep. Joe Wilson), Weiner has taken his latest media hit and milked it for all it's worth.

It would be wonderful to see this adolescent young man sent packing, back to Brooklyn, after the 2010 elections.

He would be able to wear his workers’ cap with pride, indicating his brilliance, his compassion, his high standing as a superior human, and his elite status
among the human cattle he intended to rule.

Yes, I have to say, I didn’t have an opinion about New Yorkers until I moved to S. Florida. They are not ALL like him but a significant number are arrogant, abrasive and just plain rude.

If a Republican of any testicular fortitude exists, I would like to see them go to the floor and attack BO and his good WEINER friend like this:

For years and years, the Democrat party viciously attacked the pharmaceutical industry for advertising on tv, for charging a lot for drugs, etc. etc.

YOU NEVER HEAR THAT FROM THE DEMOCRATS ANY MORE! Why?

The answer is because the White House began holding secret meetings with BIG PHARMA in February of 2009, enlisting their support IN EXCHANGE for a measure of protection in the health care bill. Former Republican representative Billy Tauzin, a chief lobbyist for Big Pharma, was one of the people involved.

After getting the pharmaceutical companies on board, the White House needed a NEW target to demonize. So the INSURANCE COMPANIES became the enemy.

SOMEONE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, PLEASE WAKE UP AND MAKE THESE FACTS KNOWN LOUD AND CLEAR!

I swear, the Republican message machine is soooooooooooo weak.

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.
