McCain ad scorches 'birthers'

A new political campaign ad for Arizona Sen. John McCain attacks "birthers" – and specifically assails McCain's challenger J.D. Hayworth for asking that President Obama prove he is a natural-born citizen by producing his long-form birth certificate.

"It smacks of desperation," Hayworth told WND. "I think John's a good man who is getting some very bad advice. I think this will provide a backlash that sadly, but accurately, portrays the level of panic in the McCain campaign. It's most unfortunate."

The ad begins, "These are serious economic times. Yet some are consumed by conspiracies."

I would think this will be a real loser for McCann or any incumbent to use. While most voters may not want to pursue this issue now, it is easy for them to conclude this wouldn't even be an issue had this been investigated properly during the election by incumbents, including McCann.

“Palin needs to distance herself form socialist leaning McAmnesty. “

She can’t. That’s the price for running as his VP.

“These are serious economic times. Yet some are consumed by conspiracies.”

If the birth certificate were the only issue about his past..or lack thereof, would be one thing.

But since he has hidden everything and we know next to nothing about any of his past..he is fair game, and its not a conspiracy. Its a real concern about national security.

I swear that this man is totally tone deaf when it comes to this issue. Talk about a losing issue for him.

I was ambivalent about this issue for a while. But now, I too think that Barack Obama has some serious explaining to do about hiding all of his records including his long for birth certificate.

I can think of no reason for John McCain to even bring up the subject of Birthers in his campaign.

What possible gain can he see in even mentioning it?

It’s just plain dumb.

McCain is such a phony. He has no center at all, just a desire to be noticed and lauded by the establisment.

Good job, John! Instead of putting out the fire you're adding fuel to it with the statements in the ad.
Now even more folks will start to wonder about whether or not Mr. Dunham is actually a natural born citizen.

McLame's Revenge...he knows he's toast so he authorizes an eligibility ad as payback for his loss.

What possible gain can he see in even mentioning it?

It helps him identify with his leftist constituency. It's the only answer I see. He may feel he has no chance in his own party and try to appeal across party lines.

She can, she just has to maneuver Juan into distancing himself from her. Not easy, but it can be done. For example wait for Megan McStupid says something very dumb. You can more or less count on her doing that once a week. Then demand that Juan McCain publicly denounce her. He won't turn on his own daughter, so you can then say that it was his refusal to dispute his daughter's charges that forced her to "reluctantly withdraw her cooperation due to the deteriorating tone of the campaign". It would allow Palin to keep the moral high ground. She doesn't actually change sides, she just walks away from the whole mess, on principle. Of course that is all J.D. needs.

From today's news: "Senator John McCain has introduced the "Dietary Supplement Safety Act," which will effectively give the government the power to outlaw vitamin pills . . . ."

Will McCain hand over dietary supplements to Big Pharm? We'll need prescriptions to buy one-a-day vitamins.. if so, is McCain nuts!

If so this ought to be a winner for J.D.
