Look what they're erasing from U.S. history!

A state board of only 15 people will vote on whether to revise U.S. textbooks to omit references to Daniel Boone, Gen. George Patton, Nathan Hale, Columbus Day and Christmas.

The Texas State Board of Education will also vote on a proposal to substitute the term "American" with "global citizen."

Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, is warning Americans to speak up before only eight people, with a majority vote, have a chance to literally rewrite American history.

He appeared on the "Huckabee Show" to explain why the board's vote matters to the rest of America. Staver said Texas and California are the two largest textbook purchasers in the nation.

"Whatever textbooks they select affect the rest of the country because publishers publish those kinds of books, and the rest of the country follows," he said.

But because of California's budget crisis, the state hasn't been able to purchase as many new textbooks, he explained. So the default is Texas.

"So when this 15-member board – eight people of that will make a majority – make a decision, it will affect the entire nation," Staver said.

Do you remember what the text was called, or the author’s full name?

What I mean is that historians hoping to sell books to government schools — are going to put a politically palatable spin on what they produce. People who have benefitted from unpleasant acts don’t like to be reminded.

I’m not going to begin to argue the “terms” of the communists’ “contract” with the taxpayer.

I was told that my taxes pay for schools. I’m not even in control of that, much less what happens after.

If Joe Schmoe can get some of his tax money back by way of public schools, then that is a very good thing, IMHO.

I think we should all take our money back when we can. If the system breaks (and it is) well, it should break. It is immoral and corrupt.

But blaming the taxpayer is akin to blaming the victim of a daylight mugging.

Dick.

The problem with the video you suggested is that it implies that if we only went back to schools as they were in 1957 that somehow the schools would be fixed.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!!!!!

The Utopian Progressives were the force behind government schools when they opened in the mid-1800s and the Utopian Progressives have **always** been directing teacher training an curriculum. The Utopian Progressives have **always** been pushing our nation toward socialism and atheistic secularism.

By the early 1960 ( not long after the author of the video graduated from high school) the curriculum in my semi-rural government high school was entirely secular atheist in its worldview with one or two minutes of the Lord's Prayer and one scripture verse during homeroom ( big Whoop! for Christianity there!)

Another reason government schools can not be reformed is that they **are** socialism and socialism can not reformed. Also simply by attending children become comfortable with taking money from their neighbor for a service their parents want tuition-free. Well...If the government can force their neighbor to pay for their schooling, then why not a thousand other socialists wants and needs?

Then there is the First Amendment! **All** government schools ( even if the district were the size of a city block) are a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination! ALL government schools trample every First Amendment Rights. In fact, children ( who have committed no crime) are treated like prisoners. **ALL** government schools teach children to be compliant prisoners of the fascist state. This was the very goal of the Utopian Progressives and industrialists who championed compulsory government education in the mid-1800s to early 1900s.

No government school can be religiously neutral. All schools must choose between a godless or God-centered worldview. At the moment all government schools in our nation teach children how to think godlessly. This is hardly religiously neutral.

Even when government schools opened in the mid-1800s the curriculum was based on a bland generic Christianity so that it could acceptable to the majority and offend the fewest. The Utopian Progressives have never ceased in their push to secular atheism.

Finally, since simply by attending children become acclimatized to accepting other people's money ( collected by threat of force by the government), within one to three generations of socialist government schools we had:

**the IRS
**the federal reserve
** unions
** the feminist movement
** the failed League of Nations and the U.N.
** FDR's New Deal for **four** terms
** Johnson's Great Society
** the abolishment of the gold standard
** the Department of Education
** and thousands of socialist offices and programs, and regulatory agencies

All of the above came about because our parents, grand parents, and great-grandparents were made to feel comfortable with taking their neighbor's money to pay for their socialist schooling. In fact, their Utopian Progressive trained teachers taught these children that it was their **RIGHT** to have government take their neighbor's money.

Again...Government schools can NOT NOT NOT NOT be fixed!!! Socialism can not be fixed and **all** government schools are socialist.

I commented before the apologies-all-around, so my apologies as well.

But I do think you are way underestimating the damage public school can do. Of course, anyone who allows their kids tons of TV and mass media/movies etc is also causing tremendous damage; it’s not as though pub. schools are the only bad influence - heck, even going to the grocery store and seeing the magazine covers is sickening.

Basically we live now in a cultural septic tank and it is very difficult - but of prime importance - to protect them as much as we can until they are mature enough to have good discernment.

Indoctrination is subtle - think of the boiling frog, he doesn’t notice how warm the water is getting until it is very hot.

I’ve seen text books in the mid 80s that were nauseatingly PC. They are all larded with Darwinism, just for starters.

Maybe it’s $12K in your state, each state varies. Here in my state a large proportion of property taxes go to the schools. It’s broken and will have to get fixed in the sense of no more fedgov interference, and IMO any “public” schools should be controlled and funded very very locally - by town or even smaller.

Of course, things will have to collapse for that to happen.

The business of public schools is solely indoctrination, that is why public schools were conceived and exist. The elites of course have their children educated privately to prevent infection by the masses.

Except for the occasional pot shot or joke, Rush does NOT cover school issues. I seriously doubt that he would cover this story.

I don't know enough about Beck or Levin to know if they would cover this textbook story.

But....If we do not shut down the government schools there will always be this continual battle with socialism. Simply by attending the children learn that the government can make their neighbor pay for a service their parents want tuition-free. Well GEE!...If the government can force a neighbor to pay for tuition free schools why not a thousand other socialist wants and needs.

Conservatives are constantly hacking away at the socialist trees ( individual legislative bills) and are constantly oblivious to the fact that our socialist-funded government schools are year after year growing a socialist forest.

But the current GS are radically different from the system through which I passed 50 years ago. Know that my concern and hostility are NOT directed at those who still TEACH — really teach, really want the best EDUCATION for the kids, want to prepare them academically for the future.

I call these people well meaning Useful Idiots! Yeah they are really sweet people who love their cats but they are HURTING ( in fact ***abusing**) children!

If these so-called caring and "good" teachers **were** any good they would be fired already! If they haven't been fired or haven't quit yet it is because they are going along with evil to get along with evil.

Hey, HOMESCHOOLERS, some of us NEED to work in order to pay for things like RENT, and UTILITIES.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ok... So? Do I get this right? You are using the government schools for taxpayer paid-for babysitting?

It is amazing to me. Parents who seem to have no trouble paying for babysitting for pre-schoolers suddenly absolutely have to have government schools because they are working.

Yet,... in my state the average tuition at a private school is less than $4,000 which is often **less** than the cost of daycare. Given that this is an average of tuition, from the most expensive to the least expensive, many private schools are well under the $4,000 range.

I would appreciate all the references to homeschooling to cease...DUH! of course it’s better. Fact is, though, many of us are not in a position to be able to,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, on average homeschooling is far superior.

And you are correct that some parents absolutely have no other option than institutionalize schooling in the government schools. These parents are too poor, too stupid, too dysfunctional, to ill-educated, too lazy, too sick...etc.

Yes, there will always be some children that need institutionalization for their schooling. We need orphanages too, but no one would consider an orphanage to be the best place for rearing a child.
