They read the polls and made the spin before the election that this would take the steam out of the Tea Party movement if they lost, when it was clear Kirk would win.
Illinois is getting ready to take the same track as Michigan and California. What you vote for is what you get.

Ronald Reagan said IL is so liberal that it would be a miracle if he won 40 percent of the vote there in the 1976 primary. But IL never voted for GA Jimmuh, probably a regional prejudice thing.
