Republican against Sheila Jackson Lee (CD 18)

Posted on 01/18/2010 9:12:46 PM PST by Tex Revere

Throw out a Washington insider who felt a cell phone call was more important to answer than a constituent's question at a town hall meeting.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: Texas
KEYWORDS:
John Faulk is our best hope of beating Sheila Jackson Lee, this embarassment to our country since he has already run a race against her and received more votes than any previous challenger. And he got those votes in a decidedly Obama year.

Republicans have been getting their clocks cleaned because they haven't distinguished themselves as being that much different than Democrats in an attempt (That doesn't work) to attract the independent and moderate votes. John Faulk won't be making that mistake. People in the 18th District have a real choice between a man who has real convictions versus a Washington insider who felt a cell phone call was more important to answer than a constituent's question at a town hall meeting.

Tx-18 was specifically drawn to elect a liberal Black. (Thanks to the “Voting Rights Act”.) So the chances of it being substantially redrawn are slim and none.

Unfortunately, I live in that district. It’s a mix of yuppies (I guess i’m technically one of those) and urban working class. A very safe Dem seat. I wish Faulk well but I don’t see any Scott Brown-esque effort working here.

Is he a real conservative or just saying he is?

The demographics of that district have changed a lot over the last 10 years or so.

Do you think a woman would have a better chance than a man?

Yes, I do; but can we get people to run that are not lawyers. Nothing against lawyers; but we are overrun with them. We need some different views outside of the legal world.

I’m wondering two things:

1. Is Ms. Lee’s District predominantly black and

2. If so, is Mr. Faulk white?

If the answer to those two questions are “Yes”....forget it!!!

wow - the way that district is drawn - it looks like my 5 year-old son drew the boundaries (no offense to the ones who drew it - I’m sure it was purely political)

Friends in the area tell me that Apostle Claver with Raging Elephants is training and assembling teams to begin working area. He is one great guy IMO. This group was responsible for the MLK was a Republican billboard that caused a whole lot of noise!

He needs a lot of help. If he is to take her down he needs to sharpen sticks.
