Sarah Palin Rebuffs CPAC – Turns Down Invite to Speak at High-Profile Gathering

Sarah Palin turned down an invitation to speak at CPAC this year. The governor does not want to be associated with scandal-plagued organizer David Keene. The Politico reported:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Pain is turning down an invitation to speak at one high-profile conservative gathering while accepting another.

Palin is declining an invitation to address the Conservative Political Action Conference next month because, a source said, she does not want to be affiliated with the longtime organizer of the traditional movement confab.

At issue is the role of David Keene, head of the American Conservative Union which organizes CPAC. In September, POLITICO reported that Keene asked FedEx for between $2 million and $3 million to get the group’s support in a bitter legislative battle with rival UPS.

Smart move. CPAC seems to be turning into some kind of circus.

They could use Palin but Palin sure doesn't need them.

Bet it's due to the JBS involvement with CPAC this year.

She's running for President.

Sarah should hold a counter CPAC at the same time called TEAPAC. She should get all the conservative heavy hitters dropping out of CPAC to speak at “her” alternative venue.

You are correct; and it’s refreshing to have a “politician” stay true to their own values, and not be sucked in with the rest of the crowd.

She doesn’t need them.

Gov. Palin has better intelligence than DHS.

“Washington Insider David Keene Disses Governor Palin, Claims to Speak for Grassroots
“Keene’s ACU also puts on the annual CPAC conference in Washington.

.In the last three years CPAC has devolved into nothing more than
an annual love fest for the most established of establishment
Republicans, Mitt Romney. It should come as no surprise that David
Keene supported Mitt Romney in 2008. “

“David Keene Endorses Romney“

“ACU President David Keene Endorses Romney
Long courted by Romney, Keene agreed to formalize his endorsement of
the former governor during a face to face meeting in Florida on
Tuesday, according to knowledgeable sources.“

“David A. Keene (born May 20, 1945) is the current chairman of the American
Conservative Union, a position which he has held since 1984. Additionally, he is the
managing associate at the Carmen Group Lobbying, a lobbying firm based in
Washington, D.C. In December 2007, Keene endorsed Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. “

Very good answer! “TeaPac” On the 4th of July weekend. Sunny day, outside with large green lawn and plenty of room to spread out. Just like home used to be.

Paid for by donations. Somewhere in the middle of Ameria, easy to reach, clean air and clean people.

Dogs and kids welcome.

Yes, but if you put a Democratic Politician in the same boat, would he/she sell out ?

We know they have a history of it, and this is one of the reasons they hate her so much.

Zackly right. CPAC is more concerned with CPAC and whoring out to it’s high roller supporters.

Palin wisely chose to speak at the Tea Party gathering instead. Nothing is going to make the RNC soil their garments more than knowing there’s a groundswell 3rd party conservative-populist movement gaining steam while they try to keep pound the stakes holding their stupid “big tent” into nothing but sand.

She is just fearful of sharing the stage with anyone else; she needs to be the “star”.

There might be some genuine reporters there to ask non-scripted questions, too. That would ruin her marketing image.
