FORMER Cabinet ministers Geoff Hoon and Patricia Hewitt today launched a last-ditch bid to oust Gordon Brown.

They have written to all Labour MPs calling for the leadership issue to be sorted out "once and for all".

A source close to the ex cabinet ministers — both of whom were allies of Tony Blair — said: "We can't go on like this."

It doesn't matter if Gordon Brown resigns or is removed as leader of the Labour Party now. After Labour loses the general elections this (and they will), Gordon Brown will be history anyways.

And they were soooo anxious to get rid of Tony Blair. Be careful what you ask for . . . .

Yeah, but what a retirement.

And won’t he stay on as MP?

Tony Blair resigned actually, just so Gordon Brown could get a chance to be Prime Minister for a while too.
I have never had much time for Gordon Brown. Labour will lose the elections this year, and we won't have to see much that clown any more.

Blair was most definitely pushed out by his own party. He had said for a long time he wanted at some point to pass the leadership on to Brown, but kept postponing the day. Party pressure intensified on him to do it as the Iraq war became increasingly unpopular. They were soooo happy to be rid of Tony.

Turns out he was a much more capable leader than Brown.

Are the Tories still kicking around in the U.K of have they all been arrested for crimes against the police state?

They tried that with Damian Green (Shadow Minister for Immigration) and it blew up in their face...

More to the point, are Tories now the party of Thatcher or the party of Tony Blair?

Yes, unless he resigns from being an MP as well. That’s pretty unusual though. Unless as a result of scandal, criminal charges, or illness, MP’s usually just announce that they will “not be standing in the next election”.

I don’t know what garden path Cameron is leading them down. I’m going to be hard pushed to vote for them, anyway.
