I’m sure there are some downsides to this proposal but it appears to be a reasonable if not necessary thing to do.

Congress should be limited to two terms, one in office and one in prison.

You'd have to amend the Constitution.

Extend it to immediate family members who have served a term as well. No more political dynasties.

How are you going to establish term limits? Those you are trying to limit would have to pass it. Were they in favor of that they could limit themselves. In fact, it seems that the best of them do, all conservative Republicans.

If you are going to spend the energy I would favor limiting their time in session to three months a year. Get them back home close to the people they represent and away from the power brokers and lobbyists.

Is there any mechanism available for Patriots to organize and act on the issue of purging Congress?

Sure. It's called an election.

I’m totally in favor of term limits: Two 6 years for the Senate and six 2 years in the House.

If they can’t get something done right in 12 years they don’t belong there.

Heck! Presidents only get a max of 8 years.

As someone pointed out tho....it takes a constitutional referendum and (I think) 2/3s of the states have to approve.

I can’t see that happening here in the liberal-socialist land of the north where Leahy and Sanders have more than 50 years at the public trough!

A great idea. Should have happened 100 years ago.

Of course, we ought to return election of Senators to the respective State Legislatures, too, IMO.

I agree 100%. Term limits would prevent most of the corruption in both houses. I also believe that there should be a upper age limit to the Supreme Court. I believe 3/4 of the States would have to start the process to amend the Constitution. This will never happen since you can guarantee that the RAT controlled State and RINO's like power they currently have.

One thing for sure, most of the Senators and Representatives are pure sick social nitwits. Check the likes of Waters, Barneeeee, Pelosi, Waxman, etc., etc., etc.

If we could convince most Americans that the only way to protect us from the special interests using government in a way detrimental to the American People is a return to the idea of a limited government with only the few powers authorized in the Constitution; then we will elect good politicians. The Progressives/Socialists have convinced people that as long as we elect our leaders we have nothing to fear from government and the result has been a complete circumvention of Constitutional limitations.

We have to tie them closer to the folks they were elected to represent. Using a constitutional convention as a vehicle, change the constitution to get their noses out of the federal trough. Congress critters, in both houses, should be paid only by the voters in the state/district they represent. If they do a good job, vote to pay them more. If they perform like the current members do, cut their pay to nil or fire them.
The golden rule: he who has the gold makes the rules.

Many of us care very much. A couple of thoughts: Credible leadership in this effort is critical. Firing congress and starting over with citizen representatives and senators is fine, but this shifts even more power to the unelected, anonymous congressional staffers who work behind the scenes.

If we leave them in place, they will continue to execute their own agendas and the congress will be under their control.

SOLUTION? Two things; ropes & trees.

By a 5/4 vote in Thornton v. US Term Limits, the US Supreme Court declared term limits for Congress unconstitutional. (Justice Thomas wrote the dissent).
