Israeli settler Yaakov Teitel goes on trial for murder

The trial of a Jewish settler charged with two murders and a string of other attacks has begun in Jerusalem.

Yaakov Teitel, an American immigrant who lives in the West Bank, faces 14 charges, including two counts of murder and three of attempted murder.

Police called him a "Jewish terrorist" when he was arrested in October. His lawyer says he is mentally disturbed.

He refused to stand before the court or make statements, saying only "the Lord is king," Israeli media reported.

Relatives of Mr Teitel's alleged victims were present in court, Israeli media reported.

"My brother is gone, but Teitel must receive the punishment he deserves. Such a person should remain in prison all his life," Hani Balbisi told Israel News.

Police say Mr Teitel has confessed to killing Mr Balbisi's brother Samir, a Palestinian taxi driver, in 1997.

'Proud'

As he entered a previous court hearing in November, Mr Teitel said he had no regrets.

"It's been a pleasure and an honour to serve my God," he said, "God is proud of what I have done, I have no regrets".

Police say Mr Teitel, a 37-year-old and father of four, has confessed to the 1997 murder of a Palestinian taxi driver in East Jerusalem and a shepherd in the West Bank, which he told them were to avenge suicide bombings in Israel.

The charge sheet says some of the attacks were motivated by Mr Teitel's "hatred and objection" to individuals and groups whose lifestyles and ideology conflicted with his own.

Charges include: Premeditated murder, attempted murder, weapons violations, arson in grave circumstances, incitement to violence and terror and threatening from a motive of hostility against a specific group...

Does anyone know if a Palestinian terrorist has ever been tried by the PA for attacks on Jews?

That is a very good question. No, I don’t believe that the Palestinian “justice” system ever has prosecuted a Palestinian who murdered a Jew, whether a baby (like Shalhevet Pass in Hebron) or any of the myriad of innocents butchered in Jerusalem in the first few years of this decade.

Israel should be commended for its professional criminal justice system.

agreed this is the “real difference” (at least a very important one) between civilized countries and muslim hellholes. we do convict all criminals we catch no matter which faith they have or whom they have killed.

Agreed. btw. he should really be tested for the rest of his miserable life (maybe we can then learn how you can be so full of hate “normaly this is reserved for the muslim suicide terrorists we hardly catch alive” to become such a “person”).

Not sure what he’s actually guilty of, but he’s confessed to everything but killing Yasser Arafat and is completely looney when you here him speak.

He’s also in a bad area with routine sniper attacks by arabs, and his family was shot up.

Regardless, he’s crazy as a whirlwind and needs to be locked up.

yes this is tragically. but then again as you said this guy has to be absolutely crazy. His actions sound like “someone has killed my family and because i´m not able to find the real guilty one i will just take the next one i encounter and let him “pay” for this.
a real lunatic.

“Teitel Tells of Plans for Additional Terror Acts”

by Gil Ronen
Follow Israel news on and .

SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) Yaakov “Jack” Teitel of Shvut Rachel, who was arrested in October and accused of terrorist acts including murders and bombings, has told his interrogators of a series of additional acts which he planned but never carried out.

Teitel said that he planned to abduct an Arab and videotape his execution in order to spark Arab riots. He also planned to bomb a Jerusalem pub for homosexuals and to carry out a large scale bomb attack against the “Gay Pride” parade, with the aid of a motorized model airplane packed with explosives.

He did not carry out this attack because he could not afford the construction of the explosive model airplane, he said.”

Ah, but here’s the difference between Judaism and Islam.

A character like this that pops up in Judaism is considered a crazy aberration, a shame to Judaism, and is tried for murder.

A character like this that pops up in Islam is considered a “Shahid”, a Martyr and a Hero, and is celebrated in music videos, story and song.

Not so fast. The latest suggestion is that Teitel will not go to trial, as he can be let off for being mentally unfit. The victims of his crimes are not too happy about to hear of this suggestion. Arabs who plant bombs are always seen as responsible for their actions.
