The give-a-damn factor has a lot to say about the outcome of elections still. A factoid: 40% of Americans eligible to vote did not cast a vote for any presidential candidate in 2008.

It would be 26 years passed by since Reagan won New York when 2010 elections come. Yes it is totally different demographic now than in 1984.
