was that he would have stayed in office the rest of
his life or if we still had those pesky elections,
until he couldn’t stuff the boxes any more.

Other than that, I’m sure a lot of Americans would

would have been much better off

Actually Gore (Clinton’s successor) received more votes from the public than the winner, George Bush. It was the Electoral College that made Bush victorious, not the popular vote. Based on the popular vote count one would have to conclude the voting public wanted four more years of a Democrat in the Oval Office.
