The idea that European troops under UN command were going to risk their lives to police Hezbollah was laughable from the gitgo. They probably stay in their bases drinking and whoring, with the occasional jeep ride around the perimeter. Nice work if you can get it.
It especially didn’t go well for the people of South Lebanon. Despite the Hezbollah propaganda, it was more of a black eye than a victory for them.

ROE will change if they have to go in again. If hostile fire comes from a building, level the building and move to the next one.
If Hizbollah is dug in, use artillery and flame-throwers to dig them out.
In fact, it would be prudent to lay down a carpet of artillery in front of advancing tanks...followed by mechanized infantry. All with brutal air cover.
