One of the enduring lies about illegal aliens is that they do the jobs Americans won’t do. This lie is designed to fool people into believing illegals are just harmless gardeners or drywall hangers who only want to work and fill a need in the labor market that would otherwise go wanting.
Here’s some truth
A recent USA Today article outlined the realities of our sorry employment situation and why efforts to find and deport illegal aliens are a very valuable job protecting step that has to be repeated again and again.
It cites a Vanderbilt University study on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids on workplaces that are notoriously overwhelmingly staffed by illegal aliens concluding they are very beneficial for local legal aliens and native born Americans.
An ICE raid at Swift Meats plant was a case in point. The plant’s illegals were replaced by hundreds of both native Whites and legal Hispanics.
In North Carolina a plant was raided recently. Before the raid its employees were 80% Hispanic illegals now 70% of its workers are African American citizens enjoying good pay and benefits.
A Center for Immigration Studies paper “Jobs Americans Don’t do?” continues the story of how the media and the Democrats distort the truth about the impact of illegal aliens on our workforce.
There are 93 listed occupations with 20% or more of their workers who are immigrants, but more than 23 million native born American citizens work in those occupations. In these “high immigrant” occupations 57% of the American workers have low education levels. Certainly that percentage could be higher were it not for illegals taking America jobs.
The very high unemployment rate (52%) among young people under 24 Blacks and legal Hispanics could be ameliorated with more ICE raids.

Interesting that these jobs that “Americans won’t do” are being done by Americans now that the recession has prompted many illegals to go back home.

You take your average American with little or no education, who already has the entitlement thinking, and they aren't worth a lick. Drug problems, being late, lackadaisical attitude, horrible decision making processes.
Americans are buried in the ME ME ME thing and materialism. Immigrants tend to be more interested in feeding their families. Maybe we should pay the immigrants to teach our poor uneducated masses how to work. That's why they come here, because they know the American worker is to stupid and lazy to do what they would do in a second.
Lets look at the real problem, and that is parents failing to raise their children in America with proper values and ethics. Being born to parents that have these values and ethics isn't a guarantee of performance, but it starts in the home, and not at the border.
Lock up the border and have a guest worker program only. No more illegals.
What’s so disheartening is that this lie has seeped into many “conservative” circles - Bush even spouted it on occasion.
The illegals issue is hugh and cereal, but the operative words in that headline are:
“Media lie helps destroy America”
If this is true then let’s pay the illegal aliens to report truthfully and accurately in the media.
We can certainly get them to do it for much, much less than the salaries of the current alphabet channel propagandists.
I just read an article in the local paper that said local businesses that are built around transmittal of funds to Mexico and other South American countries are suffering. In my town most of the immigrants work either construction, road work, landscaping and harvesting local crops. The article said that the immigrants are having difficulty finding work.
All the Federal nonsense can be summed up in the attempted perpetuation of this expensive illusion.
Because the illegals ICE is chasing are votes for nobama come 2012. Yes, I know that "illegals can't vote" but let's be realistic.

The latest data show 22.1 million immigrants holding jobs in the U.S. with an estimated 7 million being illegal aliens. By increasing the supply of labor between 1980 and 2000, immigration reduced the average annual earnings of native-born men by an estimated $1,700 or roughly 4 percent. Among natives without a high school education, who roughly correspond to the poorest tenth of the workforce, the estimated impact was even larger, reducing their wages by 7.4 percent. The reduction in earnings occurs regardless of whether the immigrants are legal or illegal, permanent or temporary. It is the presence of additional workers that reduces wages, not their legal status.
Minorities are disproportionately affected by the importation of cheap, unskilled labor, which results in unemployment and depressed wages. The Bureau of Labor statistics for September 2009 show a national unemployment rate of 9.8 percent, including 15.4 percent for blacks and 12.7 percent for Hispanics.

The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 33 percent, compared to 19 percent for native households. The poverty rate for immigrants and their U.S.-born children (under 18) is 17 percent, nearly 50 percent higher than the rate for natives and their children. Massive low-skill immigration works to counteract government anti-poverty efforts. While government works to reduce the number of poor persons, low-skill immigration pushes the poverty numbers up. In addition, low-skill immigration siphons off government anti-poverty funding and makes government efforts to shrink poverty less effective. Milton Friedman said, “You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.”

We don't need to import high school dropouts. We have plenty of unskilled labor here already. Do we really need 1.2 million legal immigrants a year, most of whom are poor and uneducated.

Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 306 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 135 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.975% (2009 estimate), principally due to immigration.

These labor resources are grossly mispriced because they are illegally in America. Businesses that abide by the law and do not hire illegals subsidize the ones that do.
Some people make their own Fendi handbags in their basement and then sell them at a significant markdown from real Fendi handbags. Are they business geniuses? No - they are recklessly violating the law, earning a “smugglers profit”.
A person who earns profits by using illegal resources is not a genius, he is merely getting an under-priced resource because of his reckless disregard for the law. If the law is upheld as it is in some areas, the illegals leave because no one hires them and there is no reason to stay.
If there is no opportunity they then leave, and guess what, when the real price is discovered for those jobs then Americans will take them.
The businesses that violate the law must be prosecuted because this problem is causing a host of other problems, one of which is that it is bankrupting our health care - because people are not getting turned away.
Bush was the worst offender for eight years.
Force welfare recipients to do these jobs to earn their keep. No jobs = no illegals, or a significantly reduced number.
It's been fed to us continually while all the traitors lined their pockets from these deals. All congresses since mid-90's should be tried for treason! Now it's left up to the citizens to 'fix' it.
I have a friend who lost his good paying white collar job over a year ago. He has taken a job as a security guard to make the house payment. There are no jobs Americans won’t do.
Looks like ICE could hire a couple thousand people and then deport the illegals.
They could have made a truthful statement about this if they’d wanted to:
Immigrants drive wages so low Americans won’t do the work (they formerly did).
