Eight American soldiers and two Afghans have been killed in an attack on two outposts in remote eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A tribal militia launched the attack from a mosque and a nearby village in Nuristan, one of the most dangerous regions of Afghanistan, the U.S. military said in a statement. The Americans and Afghans repelled the attack and "inflicted heavy enemy casualties," the statement said.

In the U.S. statement, Col. Randy George described it as "a complex attack in a difficult area." The Taliban claimed responsibility.

My son is one of those troops that report to CIC Zer0. He accepted, as do his wife, mother, and me that part of the terms of his employment was that he might get killed. He enlisted during the Presidency of G.W. Bush because he felt that this is his generation's war and the country and the Corps needed him. He planned to be a "lifer". It isn't just my assessment, its the Marine Corp's assessment that he has potential as a leader. He plans to get out as soon as his enlistment is up next May. Those are our and my bonifides that our son has graciously provided us.

The blood of every single American warrior killed in Afghanistan on CIC Zer0's watch is on the hands of Comrade in Chief Zer0. I heard the other day that the number is in excess of 320 American warriors on President Pantywaist's watch while he screws around with restrictive ROEs, indecision, playing both ends off against the middle, not listening to his commander on the ground, and on and on. He wants it to happen, if he didn't, he could take definitive steps to mitigate and he hasn't. His is a tough job even when someone actually trys to do it. He isn't even trying. You can give the bastard a pass, I don't think very many military families are in the mood to do so.

Maybe that's the plan kill off young patriots then take over the spoils.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of what's going through his evil mind.

The number of casualties before Obama’s master plan ROE were very untaseful as were the casualties in Iraq, but they were small compared to the pre-ROE times. For that I do place blame on the Pentagon for not giving the President a clear picture of the situation and also the President for not demanding one. If you go to a month by month analysis there was a sudden uptick after April and those numbers are rising every month.

http://icasualties.org/oef/

So your initial analysis is flawed in respect to the number of casualties because of Obama’s neglect of the issue. I also have a major problem with Stanley taking 3 months to prepare a report that should have taken days. Then he comes out with his Kennedy Center educated crap about the prioroty should be first protecting the Afghan civilians and not focused on killing the enemy. With all due respect Sir, That is Bullcrap. Until you kill the friggin bastards killing the civilians, they will never be safe or feel secure. Your platoon leaders know that as a fact of life, so what is your major malfunction, General? Keep this crap up and you’ll end up making Westmoreland look like Patton!

The current ROE, which originated in the White House, are getting our brave men killed.

(I haven’t heard that any women have been killed yet. I’m willing to add “and women, if there have been”.)

Sure it is winnable! Viet nam was easily winnable too. We kicked Charlies butt nine ways to Sunday in the Thet Offensive and they were about to quit. That was straight from the journal of the top RVN General who got his ass handed to him. But! General Cronkite’s analysis was that we lost and that started the whole cascading folly and gave the RVN new life and eventually the war.

As a veteran of the region before the blowup, I can say from my experience this thing in Afghanistan is very winnable on the same level as was Viet Nam, but it is also very losable in the same respect.

Gee thanks 0bama. Our blood and treasure is dying for nothing and you seek to do nothing more than to jetset around the world and trash talk the USA.

Our brave troops (God Bless Them) Can win in any conflict given the ROEs that allow for total decapitation if the enemy but they cannot win a two front war againt the enemy in the field and the one with Our own government. If they are not allowed to fight to win then bring them home!

Obama is an evil SOB and has got to be removed from office!

I feel so sad for the families and pray for them and all of the US military

The Monroe Doctrine was based on a totally different set of rules and time in history. I had the good fortune of being raised an Army brat until my Dad retired after his third combat tour while I was a Junior in High School.

What I learned traveling the world couldn’t be crammed into a world history book that was four inches thick let alone 3/4” like the typical textbook of today. I watched and felt the world become a much smaller place in front of my eyes and I knew it the instant I saw it. It was also up front and in person, something no textbook could ever deliver.

When I joned the Army just three years after my dad retired, I ended up serving in Iran. When I first received my orders, I had an idea of what Iran was but nobody in my company, even the commander, knew where or what it was. That was 1972. Try that now and realize the Monroe Doctrine is outdated to say the least and with that, we are now the last superpower. With being the biggest kid in the family, comes resposibilities the smaller ones should not have to shoulder.

If people like Paul and his supporters don’t have the stomach to assume the responsibilities of what this country has grown to be because of its founding preinciples, it brings me to the same somple point I learned from a lot of great leaders I was fortunate enough to have known;

LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET THE **** OUT OF THE WAY!

Oddly enough, Nancy Grace is the only ray of positive light on the entire network. From seeing her interviewed on Fox about her book, I would expect to see her sometime soon make the leap as well.

I agree with you that obama’s talk of withdrawal has contributed to these latest attacks, but obama wasn’t talking about withdrawal when he appointed McChrystal.
McChrystal went there and changed the ROE, made our Troops MUCH more vulnerable, and emboldened the Taliban.
Most of the deaths, both American and other NATO countries’, have come about because of McChrystal’s change in tactics; not allowing airstrikes if civilians might be around; sending convoys out without clearing civilians from the roadsides which makes them subject to attacks from within crowds of civilians; ordering convoys carrying troops and supplies to maintain slow speeds on the roadways so the “people” will trust us more.
Our female Troops have to wear headscarves that cover their hair and shoulders.
He even wanted our troops to ditch their body armor among “civilians” to show them how much WE trust THEM!
THESE are McChrystal’s orders, not obama’s.
PLEASE. This is insane!!!

A “couple” so thrilled to be leaving thier anniversary dinner with the anticipation of getting back home to continue the endearing rememberances of their vows. /sarc

She walks out with a snarl on her face and a lawn bag draped over her shoulders. Must have used a Sharpie to color over the yellow straps and he comes out with that happy look on his face and both hands in his pockets.

I hardly think he is looking for the keys to the car or to the front door of the house.

Must have been one hell of a delightful dinner! I’m glad I hadn’t spent a pocket full to have a nice dinner there and to have these two cheerful people pop in.
