A 37-year-old mother of three is on life-support after going to a Weston, Fla. beauty clinic for a routine liposuction procedure, the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports on its Web site.
The attorney for the physician who performed the procedure at Weston Medspa said Rohie Kah-Orukotan, a nurse, did not suffer complications until the end of the procedure.
"She went in for a routine liposuction ... performed by (Dr. Omar J. Brito Marin) without any complications until the very end, at which time Dr. Brito immediately administered emergency care and called 911," attorney Brian Bieber told the Sun-Sentinel. "Paramedics arrived; they noted all emergency procedures put into place were proper."

Vanity Kills
Very sad. I personally would not have any surgery whatsoever unless there was no other option.
there wasn't a pit bull involved, was there?
Prayers up for the family.
“beauty clinic for a routine liposuction procedure”
People....go to a hospital not a beauty clinic
Know a lady who recently died after such a surgery. 2 day home and hit the ground dead.
No word on whether she was brain-dead before the procedure.
She went to a clinic...i.e. like a mall procedure by questionable individuals.
When you shop by cost, you get the dregs. Research to find a quality plastic surgeon and you will get a better result.
Vanity does not kill. Letting low-cost charlatans mess with your body kills.
Start your own business! A garage, a vacuum cleaner and a can of washing ether is all you need.
I think there’s a good lesson from this story as relates to passing legislation in the current govt. You carve too much pork out of these bills they’re trying to pass, and they go brain-dead.
pretty harsh...considering teeth whitening, hair replacement, and VIAGRA all belong to the vanity category...they deserve to die too?
Well played, sir.
Lipo has very, very high complication rates.
They’re violently ripping fat out of the body. All it takes is one little piece getting into the blood stream.
They're removing subcutaneous fat. This is not intense surgery.
A COMPETENT plastic surgeon can do this procedure with no problems. Lipo is so easy compared to tummy tucks and boob jobs.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

I feel sorry for the lady’s family though.
Absolutely! I mean people get liposuction everyday and don’t die from it! but some unqualified mechanic gets in way past his ability and look what happens.
That’s why I would like to talk to a number of satisfied customers before getting a less than totally “gotta do it now” procedure.
Very sad.
“State records show Brito is not a board certified plastic surgeon and has a background in occupational medicine.”
Viagra is also used for prostate problems. not *always* for recreation
