Without even the sham of being able to claim most people want him back, there’s no room to criticize what Honduras did (except for exiling Mr. Z instead of imprisoning him).

Does Honduras election law allow for write-ins? Why don’t they throw down the gauntlet, and say that if Zelaya gets a majority of votes through write-ins this November, then they’ll admit they have a problem, otherwise to jail he goes.

Ok, then we are going back to the reason this guy was outed in the first place. Honduras adopted most of the US constitution, with some exceptions. As I said they have lived under dictators before and want none of it. Their constitution is written so a President can only serve one term and if he tries to serve another he is out the door, it is against the law for Zelaya to even have tried to run again, but he did and ignored a court order to cease and desist.

A write in with him as candidate would be illegal.

He went so far as to print up phony ballets(he was going to use them in "his" election)and that was when the Supremes of Hounduras ordered the army to arrest him and deport him.

All this nonsense about a coup is just that, nonsense trumped up by the left wing governments of the world, including ours, in order to justify bringing him back to power.

The current President is an honorable and strong man. I would not let these ambassdors for OAS back into the country if I were him. They just want to stir up trouble.

The new election is coming up in November and they are trying to get this guy back into office, or to get Hondruan's government to make a compromise which would blow their constitution.
