How Many Obama Voters Feel Let Down?
Pajamas Media ^ | August 4, 2009 | Jennifer Rubin

Candidate Barack Obama ran a brilliant campaign, convincing moderates and even some conservatives that he was no radical while keeping the netroot base fully engaged. But seven months after taking office, the list of disappointed voters (at least those willing to admit they were had) is growing.

Fiscal conservatives who bought the spiel that he’d go line by line through the budget have seen the most fiscally irresponsible president ever. After a $787B pork-filled stimulus, a supplemental spending measure with 9,000 earmarks, a $3.5 trillion budget, and a trillion dollar health care plan, Obama has managed to exceed the worst predictions of his critics. And now at least some of his advisors are letting on that his promise not to hike taxes on 95% of taxpayers [1] is going to be cast aside. After all, the deficit is now so huge we must plug the gap, right? (Robert Gibbs said Obama would never raise taxes on the middle class [2]– well, except for those cigarette and energy taxes.)

Then there are the good government types who fancied a new era of transparency and lobbyist-free government. Well, not quite. We have had the long list of tax cheats and the lobbyists who needed ethics waivers [3] to squeeze through the revolving door. Again and again — whether on the stimulus plan or on cap and trade — gargantuan legislation has been rushed through without public scrutiny. Well, if the public figured out what was on some of those thousands of pages, they might have objected.

There were gay voters who felt certain this contemporary president understood their concerns. Unlike all the other liberal pols he would finally deliver on gay marriage, they hoped ( after all he came out against Proposition 8 [4] in California) and repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell..."

Any fiscal conservatives on here that voted for ZERO please raise you hand. I want to meet you and find out why you could possibly think he would be a fiscal conservative when his short record showed otherwise. In fact, I would like to meet anyone on here that convinced themselves he wouldn’t be so bad. You got suckered big time!

“I know 2 Obama voters. Both are elated.”

Anyone that is still an Obot is a certifiable Marxist.

Show them your disgust....get an Obama-Joker T-shirt !!!!

Right now it's summer classes. My kids teach high school students computer tech for a little extra spending money. The college will fill up with regular classes in about two weeks. I'll have to watch for those T's, and by golly I'll bet the kids will be wearing them. That movie was a big hit for that age group. Having Oboma as the joker would be "Totally cool."

The kids were showing their disappointment in May. It didn't take long. More time has passed, so it ought to be even better by now.

If an “Obama” voter I know admits they now regret it, I think my response will be....well...How will you know in the future when you are being LIED to, like the DEMS have done for 50 years? Are you ready to leave the PLANTATION?

imho and generally speaking bammers doesn’t have a real base of voters to work with because of all the voter fraud (ACORN & LARAZA) , truth be told i believe there is a population out there that does believe him right or wrong but it’s samll and they can’t admit it- all they say is - “give the man a chance”. my greatest sadness is for the elderly black population (above 60+) who voted for him because of him being “the first black POTUS”, that’s the heartbreak, they believed him.

Haven’t seen the bastard since about April. I s’pose he’s attending a different doughnut shop now.

Probably getting non-stop medical tests before he's told that old people need to accept their fate.

“Candidate Barack Obama ran a brilliant campaign...”

I keep hearing this crap...

Joe Biden had the right take on this all along...

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
(Everytime Biden sticks his foot in his mouth.... the truth comes out).

Add to that “liberal” and you got yourself the dream come true for all the guilt-ridden whites (which includes a lot of independents), media and hollywood.

As an additional bonus, run a tired, old, wishy washy, compromiser like McCain against him, who inspired his base to fall asleep and you have a sure bet shoo in.

Boo-rak’s base now is the hard left and welfare crowd. He is running political moderates and social traditionalists of all parties off in a hurry right now.

After this debacle, I don’t know where he’s going to go. I am feeling a little bit, dare I say, optimistic at this point.

“Something” may get passed eventually but I don’t think the House bill as it currently exists will be it. That’s some relief in itself.

That would normally be my response as well, but this couple is about 25 years my senior so by lecturing them about anything would require reaching beyond my place.

He is an old farmer, when I sent a link to the U-Tube video of the guys destroying the "cash-4-clunker's" engine, I could almost hear him yelling from way down the road.

Start with the wanton destruction of machines coupled with the health care thing, and add on cap and tax and you have an old democrat without a party.

He may be a democrat but he is not a liberal. My job is convincing him that the party left him (in many ways, much like mine, come to think of it).

According to my kids, the ex-Oboma freaks are very disappointed. He's just another old guy politicians like the rest of them. They wanted change - they got enslavement.
Today, it's cool to be anti-Oboma. Those who still support him are seen as real odd balls who are "Stuck on yesterday".

Now that's great news! When they call up Organizing for America they won't get the numbers that they thought they had.

Protests at Democrats' Health-Care Events Spark Political Tug of War

Obama, meanwhile, called for support Wednesday from the 13 million people on his e-mail list, asking them to commit to attending at least one health-care event this month.

"This is the moment our movement was built for," Obama wrote in the message, distributed by Organizing for America. He continued: "There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the Internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we've got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight."

The really sad thing here is that 90% of Americans are going to pay heavily for the decisions of the idiots who got Obama into office. My daughter is a 20 year old college student who "knows everything". When Obama 1st started campaigning, I did not know a lot about him but what I did know I did not like. When my daughter told me she was voting for him, I immediately made up my mind that I would not vote for him. The people that were mass entranced with him, deciding the fate of the rest of the people should feel rotten, stupid and remorseful. We are not talking about simple issues here. Everything Obama has undertaken and overtaken is serious sheet! They have serious and permanent consequences. When I look back on some of BO's campaign speeches, I cannot believe what he so boldy stated such as energy rate hikes, tax hikes, one payer system etc., and people still voted for him. It sickens me that people have not learned a damn thing through the ages and a new pretty penny so easily catches their eye and gets them off track. It just shows how weak, shallow and dependent those people (Obama supporters) are. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!? And btw, Obama took more time to choose a dog for his kids than he is taking on this health care bill. Who passes a bill now and reads or fine tunes it later? An idiot! The problem is, now that the sheet has hit the fan, how can we stop this maniac? That is what I want to know. I am angry every time I hear about the millions, billions and trillions wasted and I want to know if we can do anything about it. Instead of reading blog after blog about how bad BO is, how do we stop him??????

Candidate Barack Obama ran a brilliant campaign

If lying about every single thing while the media hid the truth from the voters is running a "brilliant campaign", then we are doomed.

That take infuriates me too. The media gave him a 10 to 15 point handicap and them some people gush about what a masterful campaign he ran.

Same with his oratory skills. He has none. But listen to some people and he's a combination of Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King and Demosthenes.

how do we stop him??????

First off welcome to Free Republic!

Second, please learn the "<.p.>" function to make your posts a little easier on the eyes.

To make a long answer short, I think the main reason for the mobs supporting of zer0 starts with the poor teaching of history in the public skoolz (sic). Plus he is an attractive figure to many, decent looking, well spoken (from the teleprompter) etc.

We also have to remember that G.W. took on massive flack for 8 years and did nothing to defend himself. This left him and his supporters with basically nothing to argue with and all the youth and uninvolved voters to look for anything that was "change"

My point is that he came around at the perfect time. If you will entertain my crude comparison..

The country got "sweet talked" and now were pregnant, only to find out the guy we fell in love with is nothing but a jerk. Its now up to us to get back up on our feet, dust off, and move on with a lesson well learned.

The best way IMO is to keep showing up at their meetings, get in their face and let them know that were fed up and won't take it anympre.
