Rush is ON FIRE
Vanity | June 8, 2009 | Vanity

Posted on 06/08/2009 11:12:25 AM PDT by Lancey Howard

Rush is always great, but every now and then he outdoes even himself. Today's show is Rush at his very best. He is alive and ON FIRE! For starters, he b!tc4-slapped Newt, but good. Rush also mentioned that he had been asked to do one of those "global warming" public service announcements, like the one Newt did with Nancy Pelosi. Rush said they asked him to sit down and film one with Michael Moore and he told them "no". I hadn't heard about that before.

Anyway, if you can listen to a recording of this show on line somewhere, I HIGHLY recommend it. In any event, don't miss the last hour of the show, coming up now.

That is all.

Can you elaborate on that?

Rush played a clip (or recited verbatim?) Newt's appearance on "Slay the Nation" with Bob Schieffer where Bob successfully baited Newt with a question about the alleged rift in the Republican party between conservatives and liberals ("moderates"). Newt responded that he is happy to have Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney in the Republican party. Rush then used the name "Newt" in a slightly derisive manner and took Newt to task for his apparent concessionn to Schieffer that Rush and others were "purists".

Maybe somebody else could elaborate (or, you can go to Rush's website for the transcript/replay) but believe me, Rush spanked Newt, no doubt about it.

FRegards,
LH

I missed the first part of the segment he did on the city (?) that had all its jobs leaving.

??

Sorry, I guess I missed that, too. I get to hear about 75% - 90% of Rush's show during my travels between appointments and phone calls, and I'm not sure which segment you're talking about.

My teens saw the new one, didn’t really understand the plot, so we just neflixed T1,and T2 over the weekend.

Newt has turned into a snivelling pile of goo. He has turned his back on conservatives in favor of the adoration of the liberal media.

Newt lost me when he and the Republicans caved to Clinton on the "government shutdown" fiasco. Just when the momentum had turned and it looked like the good guys were winning the argument, they caved. They ran like scared bunny rabbits from the Democrat newsrooms. My jaw hit the ground in amazed disappointment and it's still sore.

Newt needs to step back and assume the role of the slightly crazy old professor type. He’s really smart. I *really* like how he thinks about things.

His actions betray him. He doesn’t have the right stuff to take on The One. He’ll get his clock cleaned, possibly long before that.

RIP the politician. Long live the think tank.

Well put. I agree.
Newt is a terrific policy wonk.

Did you see the thread about Sarah Palin being disinvited (AGAIN!) to speak at the GOP fundraiser? I would bet anything that Newt is pulling the strings there.

Not yet, I'll check it out. Thanks.

If Newt is anti-Palin in some way then I'm disappointed in Newt. He wants a comeback. Sorry, Newt: I'm a supporter of yours and I dont' think it's gonna happen. I'd vote for Sarah. You should help her plan her ideological strategy.

Oh, I don’t know that Newt is “anti-Palin”. I believe that Newt wants to run for President and sees Palin as standing in his way.

That makes more sense. Good. :0)

The Newt part wasn’t the best. That came before in hour one: (this is long for a post here but well worth the read, imho, and if you can hear it on Rush’s site it’s even better. He’s rarely been this serious. And it might even be worth hooking up 24/7 for a month ($6 something - least cost) just to hear him on this... again, imho.):

Barack Obama continually, childishly, immaturely blames predecessors for all of the mess that he and he alone has compounded. If he wants to talk about what he inherited, I’d like to put it down on the record what he inherited. The problem is he inherited it temporarily. He’s in the process of destroying it.

Barack Obama inherited greatness in a nation. He inherited the birthplace of the individual. He inherited the defender of liberty at home and abroad, the United States of America. He inherited the opportunity to lead a nation of sheer exceptionalism, a nation of equal opportunity, a nation which featured its citizens the right to fail and to try and try and try again. He inherited the financial center and capital of the world. Barack Obama inherited the country that has successfully championed capitalism and widespread prosperity. He inherited a nation which liberated billions of people who lived in oppression. He also inherited great responsibility. He inherited the responsibility to lead this great nation, the world’s lone superpower, a nation oriented toward the good of humanity. He inherited the responsibility to preserve and strengthen the free markets and economies that made this the greatest nation in the history of human civilization. He inherited the responsibility to continue the philosophy and the tradition of a country founded on Judeo-Christian morals, ethics, and principles.

He inherited the Constitution of the United States. He did not claim the right to remake it, to rewrite it, to change it. He swore to uphold it. And he’s in the process of wreaking as much damage to the Constitution as he can get away with, with nominations like Sonia Sotomayor, as he is wreaking damage to the US economy. Barack Obama did not inherit a mess. He leads a mess. He inherited the United States of America, where anything is possible. And greatness has been delivered to the world time after time in the form of private sector inventions, innovations, advancements in products that improve people’s lives for over 200 years. He inherited a country of individuals energized by their liberty and strengthened by their character. Barack Obama inherited the leadership of the greatest collection of human beings in the history of human existence.

And what has he done with this inheritance? He has run around the world and apologized at every stop he makes for what he considers the sins, the immorality, and the unjust unfairness of the way he perceives the United States of America. He inherited a country that liberates the oppressed, as I said. He inherited the greatest economy in history. He inherited that, nothing more, nothing less, plus the Constitution. There is nothing to apologize for. It is childish, it’s babyish, it is immature, it is unbecoming anyone who holds the office of president of the United States to run around crying like a baby while lying about the mess he inherited, because he didn’t inherit a mess. He inherited years and decades of stewardship from the Oval Office of the greatest nation in history. In his mind, he inherited a flawed social experiment. He has now made the mess that is the United States economy. He is making a mess of United States foreign policy.

There is a lot to be proud of this country, but you don’t hear much about that from the Oval Office or wherever Obama’s teleprompter happens to be planted. We don’t hear people in his administration talk about how proud they are of this country and how proud they are of the people who make this country work. There is a lot of work to be done, but not the way Obama is proceeding. He is creating more work for future generations to reclaim their birthright that is the greatness of this country. Barack Obama is destroying what others before him preserved and expanded upon.

If Newt thinks Colin Powell is the type of Republican the party needs, one that votes for a liberal Democrat President over Powell's "perfect" moderate republican in John MeCain, the Newt is as big a party traitor as Colin Powell and Arlen Specter.

IMO, it’s not that Newt has somehow turned his back on conservatism, it’s a combination of going native within the Beltway plus presidential aspirations. He wants to be the 2012 presidential candidate, and he’s less interested in convincing people on issues than he is in counting votes and making sure he can get enough votes from groups A, B, C, and D to win.

You may be right, but Newt is an even bigger moron than I thought if he thinks he has ANY chance at the presidency. The press would litterally shred him over his affair back in the mid-90s.

Rush liked this show too. He's placed the first ~100 minutes of the show on YouTube.

This link goes to the ten part YouTube link page of "Rush Limbaugh: Obama is Destroying the Economy" from Rush's 6/8/09 show.
