Italy does not want to become a "multi-ethnic" country and will continue its newly adopted policy of sending boatloads of immigrants and asylum seekers back to North Africa, the prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, said.
Previous Left-wing governments had "opened the doors to clandestine migrants coming from other countries, with an idea of a multi-ethnic Italy," Mr Berlusconi said.
But that kind of society was "not our idea", he added, as he sought to reassure Italians who were alarmed at the number of immigrants pouring into the country, particularly from eastern Europe and Africa.
The prime minister's vision of Italy was condemned by the centre-Left opposition. "Yes, Mr Premier, we have a different idea of Italy: multi-ethnic, pluralistic, free," said Giovanna Melandri, of the Democratic Party.
"A country in which the colour of your skin, or race or religion doesn't matter, but, rather, honesty and sincerity of heart do." Since launching a tough new policy on boat people last week, Italy has turned back six boats carrying a total of 1,500 immigrants and asylum seekers which were trying to reach the country's southernmost outpost, the island of Lampedusa.

You mean the Italians do not want “Cultural districts” they have worked so well here. \s
Here the multiculturalists are all for destroying the European white Italian culture (because it is white), yet the ones who want to preserve it are called the racists.
Yet, the multiculturalists list Christopher Columbus and people who “invaded” the New World as racist.
They are the insane ones and racist against all white European and American culture because they are imposing immigration on these nations at a rate that will create chaos and destroy the fabric of these nations.
Immigration at too high of rate will destroy the cohesion of the towns and cities also. Of course, these multiculturalists have a loathing for white culture......and they are all progressives who want to reshape the world and have world dominion over all of us. Third world countries were always the easiest to control.
The only reason left wingers want unlimited 3rd world imigration is so they can consolidate their power, by creating millions of new dependents on Government.
No,they haven't renamed it.They've just established a second one.Don't know if you've ever traveled in Italy but the last time I was there Communist Party stickers (real ones...with hammers and sickles) were *everywhere* in Rome and Naples.It was beyond nauseating.
The Italians can see how well this has worked in France.

Am recalling the story Kar & you told me concerning your daughter's *experience* while in Italy, recently.
Never thought about living in Italy, until now.
And their weather sure beats the crap we're saddled with in WI.

I don’t have a problem with a “multi-ethnic” country. After all, we’re a ployglot nation.
It’s this suicidal “multi-cultural” B/S that riles me. Culture DOES count. Black, white, brown or polka-dot is immaterial. If you want to integrate and become an American, have at it. Wanting just to live like one and keep your Third Worls ways ain’t gonna cut it.

What does the Vatican have to say about the rights of illegal immigrants when the country that’s being invaded is the Vatican’s host country and the illegal aliens are non-Catholics from northern Africa?

The Netherlands is ever so quietly doing it too.. and France has a program I am personally aware of that provides “resettlement” assistance for Eastern Europeans who will leave France.
