I really wasn’t going to write about this again, mostly because I was convinced that the national media had let Barack Obama off the hook completely for his tradition- and protocol-breaking bow to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. However, Ben Smith reports that the White House has now been asked about it, thanks to a Washington Times editorial scolding Obama for the move — and that they’re denying it ever happened:
The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets. “It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah,” said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
WRONG!! HE DID NOT BOW!!
HE bent his knee. He knelt. That is not a bow. It is an act of absolute submission before a superior leader.
“I think GW Bush kissed him and held his hand.”
Both gestures of friendship — but an equal friendship.
Obama made an unmistakable gesture of submission to Abdullah, the monarch presiding over Islam’s holy places. To Muslims, that was a significant act.
Now, if Abdullah had reciprocated with a deep bow to Obama, that might have been a different matter. But he didn’t, did he? It was a one-sided gesture of submission by Obama.
Get ready for riots; the urban areas would burn.
I expect even my small NC town would burn.
No folks, it will be like when Axelrod said that Obama met with Blago, and then later Obama said that Axelrod mispoke, that will be the story of this aide too.
Hard not to assume his staff is nothing but a bunch of nutlickers also....This is nothing compared to what will happen in the future....
Obie wasn’t bowing.He was trying to get a peek at the shieks private parts. first we had clinton getting a “lewinsky”.Now we got Obie trying to give one to the shiek!!!
