President Obama said the military was not winning the counter insurgency war in Afghanistan as he opened the door for peace negotiations.
By persuading Iraqi Sunni insurgents to turn on al-Qaeda extremists, US commanders engineered a sharply drop in violence in Iraq.
President Obama said deals similar to those implemented by General David Petraeus in Iraq could be cut in Afghanistan and Pakistan. "If you talk to General Petraeus, I think he would argue that part of the success in Iraq involved reaching out to people that we would consider to be Islamic fundamentalists, but who were willing to work with us because they had been completely alienated by the tactics of al-Qaeda in Iraq."
"There may be some comparable opportunities in Afghanistan and the Pakistani region, but the situation in Afghanistan is, if anything, more complex," he told the New York Times.

I don't find Obama in league with Al Qaida or any muslim brotherhood. He's agnostic. His mama and grandma brought him up that way.
Secular humanist liberalism is his faith.
He's finishing the job that the Weather Underground failed to accomplish. Remember Bill Ayers switch strategies but not goals.
-His actions would suggest that he has an affinity for muslims, however.
This is the way he will deal with an Iranian nuclear crisis, no doubt.
spot on, Jeff. ^bump to your link

Precisely. What part of “we will convert, enslave, and/or kill you” The Marxist Onada does not believe.

No YOU talk to them Barry! I see he is pursuing a “Pakistan” strategy.
After 9/11/01, I personally am through talking.
He’d have better luck talking to the “warlords” and tribal leaders over there not the Taliban lunatics.
The enemy wants us killed, converted, or enslaved. That much is known beyond doubt. 0, in all his "brilliance", doesn't understand this. He is also apparently incapable of learning from history. From all of this, I can only conclude that if the IQ of the "POTUS" got any higher, it might achieve room temperature in a meat locker.
The left derided Bush's intelligence for eight years. But on his worst days he was never half THIS stupid.
We’ve been talking to them all along ... at Gitmo!
Maybe obama can invite the taliban to one of his white house parties and everybody can be friends...
Thanks for the ping!
Fight with Limbaugh (an American icon) but talk to the scumbag terrorists. BHO is inexperienced and it SURE SHOWS and I believe Obama wants the country to fail!
Obama said we were losing the Afghan war. He’s an appeaser. Way to go. Signal and embolden the enemy.
Maybe Obama’s going to give the tollybon some Disney dvds.
Agreed!
Has he even bothered to find a Home Christian Church in D.C to attend yet???
Well, it was clear to me, a long time before the election that I didn’t want Obama in the White House, which is why I didn’t vote for him (not that I would vote for a Democrat, anyway... LOL...).
But, it’s very obvious that almost 10 million more of the voting public did vote for Obama, than did those who voted for the Republican ticket.
Now..., at this point, the question is what to do about him being in office, in terms of counteracting his actions in that position.
When I look at those things, in that list, it seems to me that some people are still in the “campaign phase” of the election, prior to anyone being elected. I already know that I didn’t want him in office — but the question for me, now — is not to go over the list of why I didn’t want him in office — bur rather — how to handle the political environment now that he *is in office*?
I’m not sure how this kind of “campaigning” helps the current situation of dealing with the political realities as they exist right now, today. Isn’t it about time to work on good political strategy for dealing with this? I haven’t seen too much of that, but more of the “campaign material” than anything else.
There needs to be some good organization of the GOP in working within this present political reality.
