BIG TAX BREAK: WORKERS GET $13 MORE A WEEK

Q: What are some of the tax breaks in the bill?

A: It includes Obama's signature "Making Work Pay" tax credit for 95 percent of workers, though negotiators agreed to trim the credit to $400 a year instead of $500 — or $800 for married couples, cut from Obama's original proposal of $1,000. It would begin showing up in most workers' paychecks in June as an extra $13 a week in take-home pay, falling to about $8 a week next January.

There is also a $70 billion, one-year fix for the alternative minimum tax. The fix would save some 20 million mainly upper-middle-income taxpayers about $2,000 in taxes for 2009.

Now, how's that supposed to work.

I'm sure after he sees Drudge's headline on his blackberry, Community Organizer 44 will be giving another damage control presser.

who are the 5% who do not get the $13?

Singles making more than $70,000 and couples making more than $140,000 get nothing.

The increase in prices at the pump by June will wipe out that $13.

Yeah. And my taxes will probably go up thirteen dollars a week to pay for it.

Who is the author of the article doing this math?
$400 divided by 52 weeks is $7.69, not $13 a week.

Maybe he should use his stimulus to buy a calculator.

I guess that it makes sense to cut back on the OT, and I can forget about that kitchen ReDo that I've been planning.

Thirteen bucks is not going to make up the difference that the bank says my house is worth compared to what I actually paid for it.

Idiots tell me that even though I put more $$$ into the house than they did, they have more equity.

I'll thank Congress with various degrees of contempt for their actions.

Meanwhile, my Democrat voting Contractor can sit around trying to figure out just why I canceled the deal.

Out of all those billions for a bunch of pork (that WE will end up paying for), what gets trimmed is the actual money to taxpayers hands???? The $1000 to couples was a joke as it was, now even that was reduced???? Talk about a low blow, what losers The Rats really are and all the dufusses who voted for them.
