Haven’t checked in in a while. Glad I did. Merry CHRISTmas all you TM’ers!! I see I have some serious catching up to do.
SARAJEVO - Bosnia's state court indicted a group of radical Muslims on Tuesday on charges of terrorism and arms trafficking, saying they had planned to destabilise the country. A total of five people were charged with being in the group which, the court said, "purchased and possessed weapons, explosive and various products suitable for making improvised explosive devices."
Police had also found video recordings of trainings in the use of arms and combat activities, the court said in a statement. "All of this was prepared in order to carry out an attack on one of the identified objects ... with the aim to seriously intimidate the citizens and destabilise the fundamental political, constitutional, economic and social structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina," it said. The court did not name the possible targets but local media reported the group had planned to attack a Catholic cathedral in Sarajevo and a monastery in the central town of Fojnica.
Some media also said the group might have planned attacks on the international peace force deployed in Bosnia as well as on Bosnia's own armed forces, whose units are expected to join international troops in Afghanistan next year. Some members of the group were arrested last year but released due to lack of evidence. Media said they were members of the fundamentalist Wahabbi branch of Islam, which has in recent years attracted young Bosnian Muslims. Many foreign Islamic fighters or mujahideen arrived in Bosnia during the 1992-95 war to fight along Bosnian Muslims against Serbs and Croats. Most of them have left the Balkan country under U.S. pressure but some have remained.

British embassy in Yemen targeted by Al-Qaeda
24 December 2009
The British embassy in Sanaa was the target of an Al-Qaeda suicide plot foiled by Yemeni authorities last week. An Al-Qaeda cell dismantled in Arhab, 35 kilometres (20 miles) north of the capital, last week was aimed at infiltrating and blowing up targets, including the British embassy, foreign interests and government buildings, said a statement posted on the ministry newspapers 26Sep.net website.
The operation was in its final phase (of preparation)... A group of eight suicide bombers were to carry out the operation using explosive belts and two car bombs, the statement quoted security sources as saying. The attack on the British embassy was to be modelled on the operation that was carried out against the American embassy in 2008, which killed 16 people, it added.

Algerian national Mustafa Labsi, who is suspect of co-operation with the international terrorist network al-Qaida, reportedly escaped from a sojourn camp in Rohovce in Trnava region on Saturday, December 19, the TASR newswire wrote.
According to a TV Joj report on December 21, Labsi didn't report to the Migration Office of Slovakia's Interior Ministry on Saturday. The guards of the camp subsequently begun to search for him. The Interior Ministry also notified Austrian authorities and it learned from them that Labsi had been caught there.
I've no information about my client not being in the sojourn camp, Labsi's lawyer Martin kamla told the TASR on Monday evening, December 21.
Domestic Terror Incidents Hit a Peak in 2009
Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009
You may not have noticed because most of the plots were foiled, but 2009 saw an unprecedented surge in terror "events" on U.S. soil. When analysts tally these events, they refer to anything from a disrupted plot to U.S. citizens traveling abroad to seek terror training or a lone gunman running amok in the U.S. And by the calculations of Rand Corporation expert Brian Jenkins, more terrorist threats were uncovered in the U.S. during 2009 than in any year since 2001.
"There appears to be an increase in [terrorist] activity in the U.S.," warns Jenkins, who calculates that there have been 32 terror-related "events" on these shores since 9/11, and that 12 of those occurred in 2009.
(See the top 10 inept terrorist plots.)
Some of the more noteworthy "events" of 2009:
In January, Bryant Neal Vinas, a Long Island convert to Islam, plead guilty to helping al-Qaeda in a plot to blow up a train in Penn Station.
