Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C) has further ingratiated himself with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- not -- by declaring that Pelosi and Harry Reid "failed" the bipartisanship test on stimulus.
"In order for us to get the confidence of America, it has to be done in a bipartisan way," Shuler said in Raleigh following an economic forum, according to the AP.

Am stunned this tool would speak the truth. But based on what I have heard, he probably did not realize he was speaking off the reservation.

I’ve been waiting for this. I didn’t think he would tow Pelosi’s line when he was elected. It’s about time.

The irony is Shuler voted Pelosi’s way almost 100% of the time in the last congress.

He is from a conservative area. He is only going
off the reservation to keep his street cred. If the
people in NC don’t boot his ass in two years, then
they deserve what they get.

He’s going to run for Senator Burr’s seat. This is all smoke and mirrors to make him look independent. The LBJ model of being for or against, whichever gets the Democrat party more seats in Congress. Not a one of them can be trusted.

Being from NC I can tell you he is not in the more conservative part of the state. Plus, he’s a dimocrat...which still means something different to a lot of old time voters in this state. They are WRONG, of course, but they really can’t see the light.

Almost all of the democrats I know are dead set AGAINST this package. They aren’t Reid fans either, want him out of there.

Shuler was a great college quarterback...better than Manning. He did stink it up in the NFL.

Has he decided to caucus with the GOP?
Will he refuse to vote for Pelosi as Speaker?
If not, he's just speaking through his arse.

I live in Shuler’s Congressional District. Heath is the one who wrote the legislation for the S.A.V.E. Act and has been against amnesty when even the Republicans turned their back. He has also voted against the “Stimulus Package” each time that it has come before the House. He may not have voted my way every time, but I will say one thing for him, he gets out and visits with the people in his district. He listens to our concerns, and for that fact I respect him! Say what you will, but Burr hardly answers my letters in off election years.
