Posted on 01/20/2009 5:06:54 AM PST by kinsman redeemer

I feel compelled to smell the sour milk. I must do it.

Might as well have a place to vent.

You seem oddly obsessed with a random comment about a coat.

Let it go. Get on with your life.

I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Starbucks near that mess.

I agree,it looked much better as the Clinton's curtains

Kind of faded after all these years, though!

My feelings exactly, Race.

Damn... too bad it's a "nice" and sunny day today, here and in DC. I was kinda hoping for a Storm of the Century... ;-)

In other news problems at the metro:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2168066/posts

“Metro officials say someone fell onto the subway tracks at a downtown station and was struck by a train, prompting officials to close two stations and turn around some trains.

Metro spokesman Doug Karas said Tuesday the Gallery Place station on the Red Line was closed after the accident and trains were turning around at Judiciary Square and Farragut North.”

watching North Carolina grind to a paralyzed halt in three inches of white stuff...

Yes, but remember the mandatory Obama lunch-in-the-classroom MUST-watch "historic moment" planned by the Teacher's unions in Wake County public schools today?

Rush talked about it yesterday, and I think I heard it was Wake County. Looks like that's been called. (pushing 6 inches now, at work in Southern Wake County.)

(Thank God, even for small favors.)

I had a thought about that today. I couldn't resist the temptation to scan through the TV channels to try to find something interesting (like local weather information, for example) and I heard Joe Scarborough talk a bit of politics. I settled on that channel, then kept on surfing when Joe gushed about the inspiration he was getting from the size of the crowd. Maybe Chrissy Matthews was tingling up his leg.

Then it hit me: This is the first time African-Americans have bought a politician outside of some inner cities. Even then, the Jesse Jackson Juniors of America have shaken down wealthy interests for campaign dough.

It didn't happen this way this time. Hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of AA's deprived themselves of material goods in 2008 to get a return down the line. They're standing in DC waiting for payoff.

Now, rich corporate muckety-mucks who have been buying politicians for decades know that you don't always get what you want. Sometimes, all your contribution buys is face time with the pol, and maybe he half-heartedly introduces a bill for what you want, just to bargain it away for something that somebody who paid more wants.

Neophyte "buyers" have no idea of how that works. They are not as psychologically prepared for the letdown that every lobbyist knows is part of the game. Last year, they gave up 40-ouncers, video games, crack rocks, and even shoes for the kids to get a shot at payback. Obama is in the position of either disappointing them, or seeing his white voters get the shock of their lives when he delivers something that the AA's view as adequate 'reparations'. And I'm not just talking about new schools in the inner cities, being book-smart is so honkey, you know.

It's going to be the boldest tightrope act we've ever seen in American politics. And he's got to fall off that rope sometime between now and 2012. Keep your popcorn ready for the big splat.

The anarchists blockaded the entry points to security check-ins and prevented ‘ordinary’ citizens from getting through to watch the Inaugural Parade. I was there and the DC police were overwhelmed by these cretins.

Do you think they will even show up today? Shouldn’t they “believe” in “change” too, and be happy?

Or to put it another way - since the Metro Police are probably huge Obama supporters, will they be a tiny bit more restrictive on the “freedom to protest” that they allowed the thugs in Jan’05.
