Global cooling is upon us

Editor:

Snowstorm, in Houston, New Orleans, and Las Vegas are occurring, yet planet worshipping fools are still promoting a "Global Warming" agenda! There was a warming period from the mid 1970's to the late 1990's, but since 1998 the average global temperature has been in decline.

The climate of the Earth has always been, changing and it has little or nothing to do with C02 levels in the atmosphere. Currently, there is a record amount of manmade carbon dioxide in the air, and yet we are seeing one of the harshest winters ever. Any change in the climate may have more to do with sunspots and other solar activity rather than anything man could possibly do. Just when the average American is beginning to enjoy lower energy costs, the "Hope and Change" administration is planning huge tax increases on gasoline, diesel and our utility bills to bring as more into line with Europe's system. I like visiting Europe, but would never want to live there. Their taxes are incredible. Gasoline averages from $64 per gallon. Electric and food bills are more than double the USA. A Honda CRV that can be bought here for $28,000 cost well over $50,000 in England, even though the vehicles are produced right in the United Kingdom. The main reason for higher prices in Europe are heavy taxes and fees. The public suffers high unemployment and lower standards of living supporting this scam, while the bureaucrats rake in billions of tax dollars. Most of these taxes have been imposed in order to combat Global Warming and other extreme environmental concerns.

The same Earth First propaganda that has nearly destroyed Western Europe's economy, has swept over our country the last couple decades The result has been a destruction of our manufacturing industries, high fuel prices because we aren't allowed to drill our own oil; along with subsidizing ridiculous alternate fuels like ethanol.

The good news is that the tide is beginning to turn. According to a recent global poll conducted by HSBC, less and less people are accepting the theory of manmade climate change. Fewer than 20 percent of the poll's participants were willing to spend extra money to reduce emissions to combat any possible climate problem. Even Canada is walking away from the Kyoto Treaty it signed in 1998. People are fed up with losing their jobs and paying sky high taxes to reduce a harmless substance like C02.

We can and are producing cleaner and more efficient methods of running our factories, automobiles, and beating our homes. For example: It would take a total of 20 of today's cars to produce the same amount of emissions as one car did back in 1969. Technology and free enterprise not government, has and will solve any real problems that we have in our world. America's economy is hurting. We simply do not need any more taxes to fight the mythical Global Warming monster.

This is the entirety of the sattelite history of recording the Earth's temperature:

Any measurements before 1979 are derived. The 1970s -early 80s are also believed to have been the coldest year in the 20th century, so using them as a baseline is misleading.

Wattsupwiththat.com has done a brilliant job in documenting how badly the United States' land-based temperature documentation has been, finding nearly 200 sites which create a warming bias. Consider:

1. In the 20th century, The US, England, and Australia were the most careful to create temperature records that could be compared over long ranges of time.

2. All 3 show cooling since the late 30s and early 40s.

3. All 3 show a bias towards warming evident in the quality of their measurements.

The truth is we know that the Earth is warmer today than it was in the 1970s... about a quarter of a degree. And the last couple years have been cooler than the preceding several. We do not know if this is warmer than the 1940s; we simply don't know how warm it was then. It seems to have gotten cooler between the 40s and the 70s, but we can't accurately measure whether that cooling trend is greater than the current warming one. The 1940s seem to have been warmer than any decade in several centuries previous, but it's quite possible that 1000 years ago, the temperature was significantly warmer. Any warming between the "little ice age" and the 1940s could not be related to greenhouse gasses.

Since the 1970s, the Earth's temperature has increased maybe 1/4 of 1 degree. For the Antarctic ice cap to melt and flood our cities, the Earth's temperature would have to increase 100 degrees for 10,000 years.

Heck, I was not even at room temperature for most of those years. Here is a temperature model run for the NorthEast US on Friday morning. This is one of the milder predictions. Looks like Upstate New York at -30 F. New York City close to 0 F. Please note these are computer model predictions and we all know how accurate they are.

Thank you for livening up our discussion. I recommend you work on your rhetorical skills - No! no! no! no! liar, liar pants on fire! - isn’t really a very effective argument.

“Global warming” has been going on, with some interruptions, for about the past 15,000 years. Unless I want to believe that ancient mammoth hunters caused it by idling their SUVs during long hunts on the Siberian steppe and lighting their yurts with incandescent bulbs I’m forced to the conclusion that this is a natural phenomenon.

We only have about a 150 year snapshot of temperatures and in most places the record is nowhere near complete. As a humble engineer, not a noble scientist, I tend to believe that an incomplete record of about 1% of the global warming cycle is not sufficient data upon which to base political decisions that may destroy economies and plunge poorer regions of the world into famine.

Throw in the fact that CO2 only accounts for a small fraction of the “greenhouse gasses” in the atmosphere and that nobody is trying to do a thing about the true global warming culprit - dihydrogen-monoxide, which is present in quantities 30 to 40 times greater and has a thermal capacity, molecule per molecule, that is 1.4 times greater than CO2 and I conclude that everything that is being done to “control climate change” is futile anyway.

Few people would be impressed if Joe the Plumber emerged as the leader of a movement warning of the dangers of future asteroid collisions with the Earth but Al Gore is no more qualified in the area of climate science than Joe is in astrophysics yet somehow Gore is taken seriously by far too many. Gore deserves to be laughed out of town but he gets a Nobel prize instead.
The world’s finest weather scientists cannot say what the temperature will be a week from today. They may come close but they can’t say for certain exactly what it will be and they sometimes miss it by a fairly wide margin, yet we are supposed to believe that a computer model based on very shaky temperature readings can predict what the temperature will be in fifty years. We can’t really be sure what the temperature was fifty years in the past!
I will go now and search diligently for a rabbit hole somewhere on my eight acres, I am sure that whatever lies at the bottom would make more sense than the current political insanity that is set to complete the destruction of civilized society.

The world would benefit overall. So what if a few insects (which global warming nutcases call “animals”) die off.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well, you can’t fault the nutcases for calling insects animals Nathan, in reality insects are animals. There are plenty of real errors to call them on without venturing astray.

Last time New York City was at 0 or below was in 1994. Prior to that the city got to -2 F in 1948.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

How can this be? We had one night when it dropped to -5, yes that is MINUS five degrees in South Carolina about twenty or so years ago, I am not sure of the exact year now but it did happen.

From what I understand its difficult to get New York City down below 0 F. Something to do with how near it is to the water. They said that you really need snow on the ground in the city to get it significantly down below 0 F. There is also the Heat Island Effect of one of the Worlds largest cities. New York seems to be all concrete and buildings.

Aanthropogenic global cooling?
Is that the opposite of anthropogenic global warming?
Aanthropogenic Global Cooling = Anthropogenic Global Warming = Rampant socialism coining new methods for the redistribution of wealth.

For example, the record low for todays date in New York City (KNYC) is 3 F in 1968 (as reported by wunderground.com).

The climate of the Earth has always been, changing and it has little or nothing to do with C02 levels in the atmosphere.

The CO2 causes global warming myth is one of my favorites. Algore had his charts, but if one looks closely at them, CO2 lags warming, not the other way around.

I'm no rocket surgeon, but I've noticed that carbonated drinks go flat faster when hot. My guess is that CO2 in the oceans works much the same way and as the plantet warms, more CO2 is released into the atmosphere, just like what Algore's charts show.

I suggest you go outdoors in Wisconsin today and put your claims to the test. Just stand outdoors quietly for at least eight hours.

Is global warming caused by human activity?

Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling

Anthropogenic global warming was supposed to be most easily noticed by warmer winters. Last winter was awfully cold. It erased the warming since 1979 - 1980. Arctic sea ice is back to the 1979 - 1980 level. You can look it up.

In the 1970's the same climate models predicted an approaching ice age brought on by the burning of fossil fuels. Movies were made and news magazines were producing stories similar to the ones seen today, each trying to achieve the same result: convincing the uninformed masses to accept legislation designed to prevent the alleged calamity from happening and to accept the constraints placed upon them by said legislation, especially in the form of higher costs. Interesting thing about computer models is you can change the outcome by changing the inputs.

This is entirely misleading. Here is the 1975 Newsweek article, The Cooling World which makes no mention of climate models, and notes, "Just what causes the onset of major and minor ice ages remains a mystery." Far from leading a major polical movement as today, "Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects."

The fact that this concern was raised just 30 years before the Global Warming movement is certainly noteworthy, but this "cooling scare" never gained anything like the same traction. I barely remember it, to be honest.

The pink cone is the error bars predicted by the Global Sorcerers models for Gaia's ever increasing temperature. The line graph is reality.

Would you care to take a stab at explaining the anomaly there?
