Eritrea, in its short existence has proved to be the vanguard and the tip of the spear of the WorldWide Jihad. Ethiopia's forces are divided, which probably reduces the pressure on Eritrea.
Last year, there were persistent reports of Pakistans ISI financing and arming groups that were part of Somalias Islamist councils
Depressing.

The chess pieces are all falling into place. I just hope my family doesn’t have too suffer much for the ignorant people who voted for the one I whom dare not speak his name. All I can say is, “Come Lord Jesus soon, we are about to commit global suicide.”

I just read an excellent book from WW2 on this region, Under the Red Sea Sun, by Cdr E. Ellsberg, USN. He was a salvage guy who was sent to the Eritrean port of Massawa to open it up in 1942 after the Italian/British fighting had left it unusable. It was important because it was feared at the time that Rommel was going to take both Alexandria and the Suez Canal; and that Massawa was going to be the main Allied base from which to retake Egypt and the Eastern Med. Left me with no doubt whatever about the strategic importance of that end of the Red Sea.

One could expect even closer cooperation between the US and Saudis in the days to come. If required increased air surveillance on their side will be established, both in ground radar and airborne assets. Perhaps more F16 fighter bomber configurations may be sold to them. Lots of things we can see them that could help quickly neutralize any land to sea attacks on the shipping channel.

MUSLIM OBAMA IS. IS HE SHIA OR SUNNI?
It won’t take long to find out, if he does manage to set foot in the Oval Office, just watch his foreign policy decisions.
So far, I have him ID’d as shia...probably the Allawah Sect followed by the majority of Omani muslims; who settled in East Africa. Zanzibar and Kenya. (Arab Slavers.)

AFAIK - US has a permanent Marine base in Djibouti
I haven’t seen this story anywhere else yet, so I’m a bit skeptical about the details. OTOH, they could be putting guys closer to the Gulf of Aden to deal with piracy problems.
Let’s see if anyone else picks it up.

For later read.
Someone in the islamic side actually knows strategy. This, the attacks on our supply columns, the Pak/Indian war, all spell a disaster for our guys if we don't have a back up plan.
Unfortunately, the US Generals are all political and have shown little evidence that they know any grand strategic vision. We could be in deep trouble very quickly.

Iranian ships and submarines have deployed an undisclosed number of Iranian troops and weapons at the Eritrean port town of Assab, according to opposition groups, foreign diplomats, and NGOs in the area. The city of Assab sits at the Horn of Africa in the Arabian Sea. As such, Assab offers a strategic position as the world nervously eyes the precarious routes through which a seaborne oil traverses daily. Local sources have reported that Iran recently sent soldiers and a large number of long-range and ballistic missiles. The military basing came after Iran signed an accord with Eritrea to revamp the Russian-built refinery used by the Eritrean Oil Company, also known as Assab Oil Company.
Thanks Ernest. What could possibly go wrong? ;')
