It appears they shut this investigation down because it was getting close to “embarassing” Obama.

It’s possible, though I don’t know how probable, that the SCOTUS knew about this and didn’t take the Donofrio case because it would have muddied the waters. It would certainly be wonderful if, on January 20, Obama was indicted rather than inaugurated.

Rush Limbaugh was just speculating along the same lines.

A cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself. Let's hope that those taped negotiations with Obama are released immediately.

Mr. Grant said: "Many, including myself, thought that the recent conviction of a former governor would usher in a new era of honesty and reform in Illinois politics. Bwaahahahaha. Mr. Grant should've consulted with Mar, who would've told him "Mr. Grant, we can't go on the air with this!"

Yeah, Rockefeller Republicans. Olympia Stowe, Arlen Specter, and the like. Throw in Ahnuld Schwartzkopf.

I certaily’d hope that if that's where the evidence leads them that they would arrest anyone who is breaking the law. We shall see.

I was wondering what party he belonged to. The article seems to skip over that detail.
Always assume it's a Democrat. The drive-by Media will let you know if it's a Republican.

Who is “Client #5”??
Who are any of the other un-named possible co-conspirators on this?? Nobody in the media cares to speculate, so that means it’s a highly placed Democrat...

I wonder how much theyre getting for the NY Senate seat. Bucket of chicken and a case of malt liquor.

Possibly, after all it seems that the Justice Dept was aware of the impending results of the Blago investigation. I would welcome an indictment but, too many powerful people in places will see to it that the Zer0 is not compromised. There is just too much at stake....

BRING BACK SENATOR PETER FITZGERALD.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,111159,00.html
Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (search), R-Ill., will retire after just one term. Hes retiring because his own party has turned on him and promised to run a primary candidate against him. Thats because this particular senator decided that while he was in office hed be his own man and vote his own conscience. He wouldnt be a lackey for his party, he wouldnt vote pork home to his state, and he wouldnt do what the special interests who run his party told him to do. And that got him into trouble.
....
Well, not quite. Instead of rewarding an aspiring local attorney for his political support with the nomination, as is custom in the U.S. Senate, Fitzgerald was more concerned about the ongoing investigation of then-governor and fellow Republican George Ryan, and wanted to be sure an aggressive prosecutor independent of local politics was assigned to the case. So he went out of state and nominated prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation), who indicted Ryan on corruption charges last December.
