To Every Thing There Is a Season (Obama eligibility ignored by SCOTUS)

To Every Thing There Is a Season   [Mark Krikorian]

David Horowitz's piece on the home page stomping on the ridiculous, bitter-ender efforts to disqualify Obama from the presidency illustrates what might be an amendment to Ecclesiastes: there is a time to bomb-throw and a time to refrain from bomb-throwing. Bravo to David for being out front on this.

The Supreme Court this morning refused to hear the case challenging Obama's eligibility. This is good, on the one hand, given how loony this whole thing is (the plaintiff asserted that McCain wasn't eligible to be president either — at that would leave who, Nader?). On the other hand, this issue has grown legs and it might have been good to have the Supreme Court formally decide at least that having a non-citizen parent does not preclude you from being "natural-born," which is the issue in this lawsuit (not the "fake" birth certificate or whatever else is circulating out there).

I can’t find it carried anywhere! Anyone know if the Press Club can be seen online?? It is not at their web site.

THERE ARE STILL CASES PENDING AND THIS IS NOT OVER!

Using Caps Lock does not make your plea more effective. I am reading the updates with interest but this is no longer an issue. Obama has been elected President.

Is that what the issue is? I thought people were saying he was born in Kenya. If he was born on U.S. then soil he is a US citizen.

I was supporting this lawsuit because it was my understanding was that it was not established that he was born on U.S. soil. If that has been established (that he was born in Hawai) then there is no case.

Sorry CC, but there is nothing to the claims that Obama is not a natural born citizen. I wish that there was something to it, but the Supremes were right not to hear it.

Then why won't he do the simple, inexpensive, and prudent thing and release his original long-form birth certificate?

Why is he spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and using three law firms (not three attorneys, but three firms full of attorneys) to fight the release at every step?

It ain’t over... The Electors may still present a challenge to Obama’s qualifications.

And pigs may fly.

No. The issue is he was NOT born on US Soil AND his "birth certificate." If his "birth certificate" were not an issue he would have released the original.

Not in this particular case. Donofrio conceded that Obama was born in Hawaii and based his ineligibility for presidency on the fact his father was not a U.S. citizen. He also claimed McCain was ineligible because he was born in Panama.

Do you want the simple answer? LOL...

It’s because the birth certificate would show him to be ineligible to be President of the United States... As long as there is no proof, he can be President.

“If you cannot see it, you must acquit!”.... LOL...

And why aren’t people like David Horowitz and Mark Krikorian pressing the same questions you have asked?

I'm not so sure the RINO label is so usefull. We are a two party system so really there aren't many options in joining a mainstream political party. One persons purity test is going to differ from anothers. When I was a member of the LP, my libertarian-ness was questioned since I supported invading Afghanistan. I'm personally not too thrilled with self-appointed keepers of party purity.

I am a conservative and my views fit better with the GOP then they do the Democrats. Third parties have proven to be only usefull for protest votes but that's somewhat dangerous with candidates like zero being viable in this country.

We have paleo-conservatives, neo-conservatives, fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, etc. Who gets to set the standards?

I've seen many respected conservatives in the public eye who have been hailed here and elsewhere and then they say something unpopular and then are dismissed, "I allways knew he was a RINO."

C-Span1 or C-Span2 are NOT carrying the National Press Club news conference, i.e. Berg.

“1” (House) is carrying Barny Fwank and the housing loan debacle while “2” (Senate)is carry some global financial meltdown stuff.

I’ve checked ALL other new channels: NOTHING!

It’s tough to talk with marbles in your mouth. Barney always sounds like he’s got at least five in there.

I agree with your take on it.

No coverage I guess. It is about over now as was on the Press Club schedule for 1:30 for half hour. Freeper Joe Thunder was going to be there. Perhaps he will post on his web site as to how it went. Wonder how many members of the press showed up.

I get a feeling that Obama’s arrogance is going to bite us hard in the future.

Say a nation like Iran siezes some of our soldiers and accuses them of unlawfully operating under the orders of an illegitimate leader. What will Obama do? Will he preserve his pride and his job to allow the soldiers to be “tried” in Iran?

On the other hand, if he caves in and proves legitimacy it will look weak but not being able to prove legitimacy will make us look even weaker. I could see the UN asking that they be released but doing nothing or worse yet, asking that they be released to the Hague.

Well, the way our society has become, it’s a “relativistic truth” that almost everyone has embraced throughout all levels of society. If Obama doesn’t show his birth certificate, he can be President, because no one can show otherwise. The “winners” get to “write the story”... you see.

And likewise with Iran — all you’ve got to do is beat them, no matter what they say. If we beat them down and say that “this is true” — then it “becomes true” — simply on the basis of us saying so.

No one is *really* interested in the truth, anymore (for the most part in this society) — they are only interested in things that can be perceived to be the truth — and only the parts of it that favor your side and not the other side.

Everyone has already given up on “truth” and so has the Supreme Court. Whatever *they say* — is (by definition) — “true”.... LOL...

That’s pretty much what Horowitz wrote in his article. Let the issue go, or you will disenfranchise 64 million voters who want Obama to be president, whether he is actually eligible under the Constitution or not. If you don’t let it go, you are a crazy sore loser and not a good conservative. Let this issue go, and get back to protecting the Constitution - but just ignore it in this case.

I think I just lost all respect for Horowitz. Instead of blasting the so-called “sore losers,” why doesn’t he ask some pointed questions of Barry?

The birth certificate that everyone is pretending is a forgery says he was born in Hawaii. There’s no issue here, never HAS been an issue here, and never will be an issue here. This is “Hillary killed Vince Foster and Web Hubbell is Chelsea’s real father” territory.
