In another sign of America's glee at the election of Barack Obama to the White House, newborns all over the United States are being named after the president-elect.
The maternity ward at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida -- a key battleground state in which Obama soundly beat his Republican rival John McCain -- proudly staked claim to bringing the first American baby Obama into the world.
"Sanjae Obama Fisher, baby boy, was born at 7:58 pm on election day," around three hours before Obama was declared the winner, a spokeswoman for the hospital said.
"Mom and Dad voted early in anticipation that their baby would arrive on election day, and Mom arrived at Memorial Regional Hospital at 6:30 am on Tuesday as the polls were opening," spokeswoman Marla Oxenhandler told AFP.
The couple had decided to name their baby in honor of Obama after their eight-year-old daughter said he -- the Democratic candidate, not her baby brother -- was inspirational, Oxenhandler said.
Around the United States, other maternity wards issued birth notices announcing newborns named Barack, Obama, Malia or Sasha after the president-elect's daughters, or Michelle, his wife.

Given that Obama’s murderous abortion policies are the most brutal in the history of US politics, I find it deeply ironic that people are naming their newborn children after such a horrific person.
They may regret that soon enough. We shall see.
The Military vote split but Obama beat McCain in votes and cash contributions from the military. I don’t get it? How about military hospitals. Many Obamas being born or named Obama?
We’ve come a long way from the America where people named their sons after war heroes.
They can name their kids “Barack” all they want, Anthony will forever be in the top 10 boy’s names.
I wouldn’t want to “punish” my kid with a name like Barack.
Some of my best friends are named John, and I have been friends with one for over 18 years now.
The Book of John is my favorite from the New Testament.
Here are some awesome charts from Military Times showing great detail about how our military polled in the election. Be sure to scroll all the way through the second page of the pdf:

I don't believe it. A lot of states don't count their absentee ballots if they have a mathematical majority of ordinary votes cast. Also, see post 10.
The confusing stuff is when you have 3 or more kids in a grade school class with the same name. I think in one class there were 4 Anthonys.
Anybody wanna bet on the logjam in the courts a few years from now with petitions of legal name change?
Which military? The People’s Liberation Army? Kenyan Coast Guard? Iranian Revolutionary Guard? Red Army Faction? Nigerian militia?
That's because neither are true. It's another little media trick.
Military cash donations were reported based on donations from any DoD employee. Most of those donations came from DoD civilians - longtime federal workers.
The active military vote overwhelmingly favored McCain.
That would seem to contradict that stat. I really hadn’t followed such a projection because I simply assumed the military would go for McCain at a pace of 3 to 1.
Okay, I’ll be the first one to say this.
Any idea how many of those babies are White? Just asking.
This is reminiscent of other times when people name their children after the current popular dictators of the era only to regret the decision later when the “esteemed” leader they so admire reveals himself as a dictator.
