Postmordem: How We Got Here and What We Need To Do To Get Back From The Wilderness.
Andrew G. Horvet ^ | 11/05/2008 | Andrew G. Horvet

Well, the election is over. I am disappointed in the American people that they would buy the empty-suit kool-aid of a man with 183 days of experience. We knew that it would be a rough road to the White House. We lost. Life goes on.

Now Conservatives are in the wilderness. The only good thing we have going is that there is not a rubber stamp congress and that we can block legislation still. Also, that smug jackass, Al Franken, won't be a senator. We can not be bitter and we can not hang our heads in defeat. We must fight.

How did we get here? Frankly, Senator McCain is a war hero but as exciting as a dead fish as a presidential candidate. This is Bob Dole all over again. The only thing that McCain has over Dole is that he didn't refer to himself in the third person or sound like Simon Barsinister. Sarah Palin energized us but scared people with inexperience in executive office. They were not ready for on the job training if something happened to a President McCain. Then again, they voted for a man who has only slightly more executive experience then I do.

The main reason we lost was the media. They framed the entire campaign. They controlled the facts and the perspective. The media came out in full force to back their messiah with all the enthusiam of a midget orgy. Sadly, McCain hardly had a chance. The other reason we did not win was that the money wasn't there. Barack ran a blitzkrieg of fundraisers, so that he could swamp the media with his ads. For every ten ads I saw for Obama, I saw one for McCain. It wasn't really that America rejected our message, it was that they didn't hear it.

So what do we do now? Now is not the time to embrace nihlism. We must organize and build a grass roots campaign like we did during the Carter years. The seeds we sowed during the late 1970's were reaped in the form of President Reagan during the 1980's. We went off message with President Bush's campaign in 1992 and were sent off into the corn fields again. We must organize our message and hold on to it.

Our main problem is the media. The only way to get our message out is to take down the liberal media. How? Boycotting the media itself does not help. We must go to its lifeblood which is advertising. We need have an army of people from all conservative groups knit together to call and threaten the liberal media's advertising with boycotts. If we take away their money, they can not function. They are already hurt, let's finish the job. Let's find out the network's advertisers and call them. we must all work together.

Now is not the time to sulk. We need to clean off our wounds and fight. This is just a battle. This is not the War. The fight goes on.

- A.G.H.

Romney? Massachusets Romney???? Come on we had a bunch of losers in the primary - Romney would have lost against Obama too. If we are going to win we need to appeal to the uneducated, the emotional female, and the gullable. These are the people that could care less about logic and only about bling and catch phrases. We do this buy shaming the left, exposing their racism and hate against children and the unborn. This is where we win because they are forced to tears - the Oprah effect - and are guilt ridden.

“Well, Romney did win MA and that is an accomplishment.”

An accomplishment for a pandering RINO. Come on we have to come together now - we must build a new party of true conservatives. This is not the time to back to the old playbook.

Romney bulls-hit! It wasn't Fredheads that caused it! It was the independents and dems voting in the primaries that set our path and then all republicans & conservatives went in 10 different directions at once voting on their own single "pet" platform, ie; abortion.

There was too much division period. This single issue crap has got to stop.

Agreed. This country is still center-right. Our problem is that we didn’t get our message out. We need to do better this time.

Look on the bright side. The power leeching neocons will return to the Democrat party to worm their way into the Obama administration and ruin it. Conservatives can put forward their Contract with America and win in 2010. Get started.

We should use “Rules for Radicals” against them.

The whole country is going to be one big California. Taxes and spending will go up each and every year with no end in sight, and all the social baggage will be implemented as well (gay marriage, etc.). The democrats and the media will continue to blame any side effects on Bush and how he left them the worst economy in the history of America. They will dole out large checks to the bottom half in the name of economic stimulus, a perfect stealth method for wealth redistribution. The sad thing is that people are more interested in watching and following every aspect of sports (they can name every player) than the politics that really affect their lives. People will buy the democrat line hook, line and sinker.

Hmmmm....but isn’t Romney pretty good about appealing to “the uneducated, the emotional female, and the gullable” with his persona? He’s a pretty good used-car-salesman-type who could work some mojo on these groups. That’s what I always liked about having Romney as our candidate. Just saying.

“He’s a pretty good used-car-salesman-type who could work some mojo on these groups. “

Im not talking about pandering to these groups Im talking about shaming them for their current state of thought. We need to take a play book from the dems and build a momentum of emotion - look at the left - they are ALL emotional - whether its jobs, or saving the seals, or trees, or global warming or women not having the right to choose and being forced in a back ally abortion or racist whites or you name it - its all driven on emotion.

WE MUST get to their sense of emotion - this is the only way. If we deal only on logic, eventhough conservatism is logcially correct, we will not win - this country is infected at every level with empty emotional wimps - we must appeal to their emotion, shame them for their racist and hate filled beliefs, and drive home how they can be ‘saved’ through conservatism.

That’s what I meant — like BG&R99 says, “steal their playbook.” Romney would appeal to their emotions like 0bama did, bring charisma to the table. McCain just didn’t have it. We could have captured a lot of the undecideds with a Romney.

We cant steal their playbook by pandering - that is the RINO way - we must shame them - they work on emotion of shame and guilt - it has infiltrated our schools. This is what we need to do NOT pander.

We need to copy this for our own means, this is how they outfoxed us. The techniques work.

Rules for Radicals

In 1971, Saul Alinsky wrote an entertaining classic on grassroots organizing titled Rules for Radicals. Those who prefer cooperative tactics describe the book as out-of-date. Nevertheless, it provides some of the best advice on confrontational tactics. Alinsky begins this way:
What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away.
His “rules” derive from many successful campaigns where he helped poor people fighting power and privilege

For Alinsky, organizing is the process of highlighting what is wrong and convincing people they can actually do something about it. The two are linked. If people feel they don’t have the power to change a bad situation, they stop thinking about it.

According to Alinsky, the organizer — especially a paid organizer from outside — must first overcome suspicion and establish credibility. Next the organizer must begin the task of agitating: rubbing resentments, fanning hostilities, and searching out controversy. This is necessary to get people to participate. An organizer has to attack apathy and disturb the prevailing patterns of complacent community life where people have simply come to accept a bad situation. Alinsky would say, “The first step in community organization is community disorganization.”

Through a process combining hope and resentment, the organizer tries to create a “mass army” that brings in as many recruits as possible from local organizations, churches, services groups, labor unions, corner gangs, and individuals.

Alinsky provides a collection of rules to guide the process. But he emphasizes these rules must be translated into real-life tactics that are fluid and responsive to the situation at hand.

Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do.

Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people.
The result is confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy. “If your people aren’t having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.”

Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues.

Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.”

Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself. When Alinsky leaked word that large numbers of poor people were going to tie up the washrooms of O’Hare Airport, Chicago city authorities quickly agreed to act on a longstanding commitment to a ghetto organization. They imagined the mayhem as thousands of passengers poured off airplanes to discover every washroom occupied. Then they imagined the international embarrassment and the damage to the city’s reputation.

Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says, “Okay, what would you do?”

Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

According to Alinsky, the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent into reacting. “The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.”

Exactly - we need to come up with a plan to use these rules against the enemy. Specific points that we can use to direct against them.

The days are gone of have Rove, Bush and McLame they are as useful to us as dead wood. The big tent is our tent it is filled with our rules not the RINOs - I trust them less than the rats.

We are on our way to freeing ourselves - no more affirmative action, no diversity forced training in our schools and govt., no more white guilt, no more talking about white power - It is all gone the rule book has been changed and we will own it.
