AUGUSTA, Maine - Gov. John Baldacci is urging Mainers to vote against repealing the new taxes on beer, wine and soda, saying the revenues are needed if Maine is to ever provide universal health coverage.

That's just the first step:
Next will come the realization, by your dear elected officials, that the system is going broke, so the privately insured will be required to enroll in the public system.
Then when the "health insurance" system is STILL bankrupt, there will be rationing of services, and Mainers will be reduced to leaving the state for medical attention, while Maine doctors will just leave.
Or maybe I was thinking of Canada...
Hey, Maine voters! When you have your universal healthcare paid for (in part) by the beer and pop tax....AND THE GOVERNMENT TELLS YOU THAT YOU CAN’T GET YOUR TEETH FIXED...will you be happy with all that?

Sounds like the Mainers are getting exactly what they deserve... I bet they go for Obama as well - right now Obama is ahead 54-38!
