ACORN on Republicans

the resurgence of the Republican Party
in Congress dramatically changed the political picture for ACORN. It posed new threats to long-standing ACORN campaigns and meant a loss of support for ACORN initiatives. It was not, however, anything ACORN had not seen before. From its beginning, ACORN had fought against politicians who resisted their ideas and their work to build power for low- and moderate-income people. The history of ACORN shows it is stronger than ever and better prepared for the continued struggle.

This whole “community organizing” stuff is total crap. Organizing for what? To demand that they be taken care of and be allowed to remain in their dependent, adolescent mess. How about getting a job. Or working harder if you already have one. Finishing school(it is free). Keeping your pants on until married. Taking responsibility for your children. It’s not rocket science. But to a liberal it is political science. And that’s the problem.
As to ACORN it needs to be defunded by government. We should not be made to pay to fund our enemies.

Tax Preparation: ACORN provides free tax preparation for low- and moderate-income families in 45 cities with plans to expand to 70 cities by 2006. ACORN provides Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs to help low- and moderate-income families, including informing them about the EITC and Child Tax Credit refunds.

A google search for VITA yields:

http://www.vita-irs.org/

http://www.vita-volunteers.org/index.htm

From the above vita-irs.org website "about us" page on May 2006:

Owing to the popular name brand recognition that VITA enjoyed, it now appears that VITA will remain VITA, a part of VRPP. On May 18, 2006 a search on www.irs.gov for "Volunteer Return Preparation Program" returned 9281 results and for "VRPP", 241 results. The results relate to the training materials, testing, quality and a wealth of other information where these terms are used. No definitive description about VRPP itself was found within the first 30 results, so here is an informal and unofficial description."

"VRPP appears to be the name given to an organization that uses volunteer power, and has four main components: (1) VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (2) Military VITA - same as (1) but focused on Military personnel (3) TCE - Tax Counseling for the Elderly, and (4) AARP - American Association of Retired persons."

From the aforementioned Vita page on Feb 2009:

"On February 27, 2008 a search on www.irs.gov for "Volunteer Return Preparation Program" yielded 21 results and for "VRPP", 5 results. One result was the definition of VRPP in "Helpful Definitions and Acronyms" close to very short definitions of VITA and TCE."

" TCE – Tax Counseling for the Elderly – A program run by trained volunteers, offering free tax preparation services to people 60 years or older.

VITA – Volunteer Income Tax Assistance – A program run by trained volunteers offering free tax preparation services to low-income taxpayers.

VRPP – Volunteer Return Preparation Programs – Programs that provide free tax return preparation assistance, e.g. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)."

Strategies - briefly define each strategy, if applicable Outreach Strategy: Assist partner members involved in IDAs, home buying, debt consolidation, opening bank accounts and other asset-building/financial stability programs by making referrals and hosting partners and their programs at coalition tax preparation sites.

Tax Preparation Strategy: Providing quality service to low income individuals and families at one of its tax preparation sites in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Asset-Building Strategy: Use EITC to promote IDAs, home-buying opportunities, retirement savings opportunities and other asset-building programs. Significant Coalition Activities:

(List major items only, using bulleted style)

Received VITA Grant funds, which enabled the coalition to hire training and program coordinator's, providing much needed relief to the coalition's all volunteer Board and IRS-SPEC advisor.

Coalition sites prepared over 4,000 federal returns for FY09, with a EITC rate of nearly 31% and a direct deposit rate on refund returns of 57%.

The coalition, through several of its member organizations, reached over a million households in FY09 with outreach mail outs containing information on everything from EITC, Education and Saver Credits to the benefits of e-filing and direct deposit.

Next Section lists "Planned Future Activities"

Increase return preparation reach into the disabled community by establishing a VITA site at an organization assisting disabled individuals and rove to one or two other locations with disabled clients.

Continue working with member organizations regarding asset building and financial stability

Re-applying for the VITA Grant

It looks like everybody in Kansas City including the IRS works for ACORN derived organizations.

(And ACORN likes to cheat on income tax returns as demonstrated by the James OKeefe videos.)

Moving on to the KCCASH.ORG website reveals:

From KCCASH.ORG "About Us" page:

About Us (KCCASH.ORG):

* KC CASH (Creating Assets Savings & Hope) is a coalition established in 2003 by non-profits, financial institutions, educational institutions, city, state and federal government organizations and the business community.

* KC CASH offers free tax preparation of federal and state (Kansas and Missouri only) returns to low-moderate income working families in the Kansas City metro area.

* KC CASH became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2007. Your tax deductible donation will help thousands of families achieve financial stability

From the KCCASH "Newsletter" Link:

KC CASH VITA sites completed some 4,400 Federal tax returns totaling over $5.2 million dollars in refunds back to our community. These funds are more important to our clients than ever this year, given the current economic climate.

You are uniquely poised to serve as champions for the mission of KC CASH. In your capacity as a volunteer, please take the opportunity to thank your fellow volunteers for their support, past and present. Encourage your friends and co-workers to volunteer their time with you at your favorite VITA site.

I share your concerns about the future and deeply appreciate your willingness to serve low-income individuals and families.

Thank you again for supporting KC CASH.

Sincerely,

Mike Nield

Another link on the Vita-Volunteers.org search for programs in "Kansas City" is for http://www.tax-coalition.org/.

Their mission statement:

Mission Statement:

The National Community Tax Coalition seeks to improve the economic well being of low- and moderate-income individuals, families, and communities by building a movement to dramatically increase access to tax credits and benefits and asset-building opportunities.

Building on Coalition affiliates' service delivery and public policy expertise, the Coalition will serve as a unified voice on tax policies and practices impacting our constituents.

The Coalition will improve the effectiveness and impact of affiliates providing tax outreach and assistance and asset-building opportunities, and will work to meet its mission through advocacy, coalition-building, outreach, and capacity-building support to affiliates.

The "Advocacy Central" page states:

The National Community Tax Coalition (NCTC) maintains and expands access to the tax system and tax credits for millions of low-wage workers and their families each year. NCTC focuses in particular on the thousands of working families served by free tax preparation and asset building programs nationwide.

In past years, the EITC has come under Congressional and Administrative attack and affiliates have banded together to fight against drastic cuts in the credit. NCTC and its affliates have also stood strong in the face of proposals that would discourage or deny the EITC to low-income families, specifcally by adopting a pre-certification and targeted audit program of EITC taxpayers. Most recently, NCTC was successful in getting the federal VITA Grant Program adopted, $8 million in new funding to enable free tax preparation programs to extend their desired services into hard-to-reach communities.

In the current climate of Congressional leaders and the President-Elect proposing to make the tax code more progressive, NCTC aims to be the leading advocate for low-wage workers on issues related to fair tax policy and greater financial security. We serve as a trusted resource for affiliates (through the State Advocacy Leaders Network), policy makers, partners, and the media, and we invite you to join the cause!

The EITC is the tax credit that supports unmarried baby-mamas with payments on for each dependent claimed. EITC was instituted under G.H.W. (read my lips no new taxes) Bush. Apparently, audits of EITC payments from fraudulent tax returns are their biggest concern. So creating fake children to get fake payments must be a booming industry. Tax Fraud with billions of dollars of transfer payments is being carried out with the help of the IRS.

The IRS gives out the names of VITA volunteers for free income tax help according to the vita-volunteers.org website. ....
