... David Gergen told about 600 guests attending a dinner at the University of Oklahoma on Wednesday that John McCain and Barack Obama are locked in a virtual tie and the Republicans could pull off an upset.

"Race has, and is, the big gorilla in the room that you can't get around," Gergen said. "We have made a lot of progress but we're not there yet. It gives alot of unpredictability to what we do."

So, to David Gergen, we could make even more progress if Obama is elected? But, if Obama loses, it is because of racism. Please.

MSNBC exit polls during the Democratic primaries showed that among those questioned in AR, MS, WV, and I believe PA, race did play a factor in how some voted. But, it was Democrats who stated that race played a factor in how they voted, not Republicans.

So, are Democrat Sebelius, Quasi-Democrat David Gergen, Jack Cafferty and even Barack Obama using race-baiing tactics?

Sebelius and Gergen really sound like they are using race-baiting tactics.

Obama is on record as saying that Republicans are going to say "did I mention he's black?" and that Obama doesn't look like those on paper currency. Race-Baiting?

Link to what CNN's Jack Cafferty said below.

Jack Cafferty: "Race is arguably the biggest issue in this election, and it's one that nobody's talking about... Yet the polls remain close. Doesn't make sense...unless it's race."

Doesn’t Gergen understand that Obama is a socialist? And I don’t care what color he is, I don’t want a socialist (closet Muslim) running this country!

ROFL! Did Gergen just call Obama a big MONKEY? Didn’t Howard Cosell get fired for a similar offense?

Race has, and is, the big gorilla

Easy there Gergen. You're getting awfully close to offending somebody with that phrase.

Race? Obama is half white. He's of Kenyan decent, not slave. He didn't grow up in the streets. Why do these people think he's Black? Half White

Either people are ignorant or they don’t care that Obama is a socialist. I pray that socialist, infanticide-supporting Obama isn’t elected in November. His policies would be a total disaster!

We don’t want socialism in America! If people want it so badly, they should move to Canada or Western Europe!!!!

True in a way - I’m not going to vote for some communist thug just to prove to Gergen and his ilk that I’m not a *racist*.

Somebody should tell them the Democrat Party primary is over.

Liberals are apparently trying to come up with yet another conspiracy theory to explain a potential Obama loss.

Remember when Carter advisors came up with the conspiracy theory of George Herbert Walker Bush speaking with Iranians to try and keep US hostages in hostage mode until after the election was over?

Leftist Liberals don’t need to explain why it would it be an upset if McCain wins? If he wins, they’ll be upset.

Seriously though, why would it be an upset if McCain wins. They started out this spring running for the respective parties. They each won. They each received the support of their own party, and the party faithful.

Why would it be an upset if McCain wins? The Democrats seem to think it’s manifest destiny every four years, that their candidate will win. And failing to convince the U.S. public each time, they lose, declare it all so unfair (like a 12 year old kid), and fall on the floor kicking and screaming for another four years.

He said "big gorilla" not "gorilla with big ears".No problem.

If we assume that Republicans are voting for McCain(R) then the conclusion you can draw from Gergen here is that it is the Democrats who are racist if they don’t vote for Obama.
