Why can’t McCain e-mail? Boston Globe explained it in 2000

Earlier today, Barack Obama’s campaign released an ad attacking John McCain for not knowing how to send an e-mail. Their crack research team apparently never heard of Google or Lexis-Nexis, but Jonah Goldberg does. He discovers why McCain doesn’t use a keyboard — his torturers made sure he couldn’t. The Boston Globe reported it eight years ago:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

I just sent the following letter to the editor. I suggest everyone do something similar.
___________________________________________________
Today (Friday), Barack Obama started a new campaign commercial mocking John McCain for not using e-mail. Maybe Mr. Obama’s campaign should learn how to use a computer for basic research.

In 2000, the Boston Globe explained: “McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.”

Great move team Obama, making fun of a POW’s injuries. Is this that “change we can believe in” or just more indication of your lack of judgment?

I'm sure, up until a couple of weeks ago, liberals thought that Obama was God's gift to them, if they actually believed, anyway. It seems more and more, though, that Obama is actually God's gift to conservatives, because the more he opens his mouth, the farther down he shoves his feet!

He flew A-4 Skyraiders. Thing has a 720 degree per second roll rate and he put them down on a carrier.

As a side not if the president doesn't send e-mails he can't get hacked or have a virus that might allow the ChiComs or Russians get into our nations secrets. Sounds like a good idea to keep ALL presidents away from the computer.

They aren’t. This is the first ad they had a “no comment” on

Perhaps McCain needs an ad showing his cell at the Hanoi Hilton and a simple explanation why he can’t use a keyboard due to the torture he endured as a prisoner of the North Vietnamese.

Even a number of Dems are keeping their distance if they want to get elected. Obama is like a burning necklace for them.

I think you are right. Expect at least a few to not even acknowledge Biden more than Obami, but Obami is catching up real fast.

You give the Obama campaign way too much credit.

This was deliberate. The story was published 8 years ago.

As Plouffe said today: “Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign”.

This was a nasty, deliberate slap in the face to McCain.

Obama must have the most amateurish team in the history of politics. This is the kind of gaff that destroys campaigns.

So Obama has to depend on the likes of Garrison Keillor for his campaign material? *snort*

The Obimbo train is going off the rails and the MSM is right there with him. The attacks of the media on Palin have FINALLY woke a bunch of people up to what we have known for years-—the media is completely corrupt and in the tank of the Rats.
Obama is a rank amateur. This latest attack is pathetic.
I'm with you and am ready to really unload on these creeps.

More than likely it is permanent nerve damage. Just from watching him gesture, it appears that fine motor activity is impaired.

McCain has serious impairment of at least one arm. It would be understandable if he has shied away from computers.

Someone should email this to O’Reilly and ask him what he thinks about it. O’Reilly is so in the tank for Obama that he defended the lip stick remarks and then played the Letterman riff that Obama did about the lipstick. O’Reilly says that he wants to interview “Palin” because he will be harder on her than Charlie Gibson.

O’Reilly said that they (the McCain campaign) will trot her around to the conservative commentators before the debate and then he hopes to get a hold of her and do an interview.

It should be interesting to see O’Reilly spin this one.

I though I read that the bent his fingers all the way back. If that is the case, individual finger mobility would be seriously impaired.

I don’t like to speculate on things like this - it raises the disgusting factor and makes me feel like a Democrat.

They won’t, but every ex military guy on the haloed one’s campaign staff, like McPeak, must resign , not in protest of the haloed one’s stupiity, but as an apology to a warrior maimed, not only in the service of his country, but in the service of his comrades, and now maimed by the astoundingly evil words mouthed by this campaign.

if the president doesn't send e-mails he can't get hacked or have a virus that might allow the ChiComs or Russians get into our nations secrets.

Not to mention that our kangaroo courts have ruled that emails are subject to subpoena. No emails, no annoying BS from the 'rat shysters. Works for me.

No, it would destroy a Republican's campaign. Democrats can say or do whatever they want, no matter how depraved.
